Quite good

3,5 Stars. We arrived very hungry and were quick to order. The drinks arrived shortly after but unfortunately they messed something up with our food order, so we waited around 40min for the food which wasn't great. Nevertheless the dishes were good, it's all vegan and they offer things I haven't seen in other Vietnamese restaurants.

Pros: All vegan, Good food, More options than the regular Vietnamese foodplace

Cons: We had to wait quite long for the food , but I hope that's usually not the case

Fresh and good value

Berlin offers so many all vegan Vietnamese spots. Chay Umi is one of them.
Very reasonable priced and fresh.
Option to order extra portion of e.g. Udon noodles for 1,50€, very fair and so you can easily get one or more starters and make them more filling with an extra side.
For example mango-tofu salad side of choice like Udon = complete meal for around 10€.

Will return

I came here for dinner and was quickly seated without having a reservation. The menu offers a lot of choice and I was a little overwhelmed.

I was happy with my choice and am planning to come again to try other items.

The restaurant has indoor as well as outdoor seating and is close to the Schönhäusser Allée station.

Pros: Large variety , All vegan, Friendly service

Cons: Cash only

Tasty but had better

This was our third Vietnamese restaurant while in Berlin, and while the food was still tasty unfortunately it wasn't as good as the other two. For starters we got Nem (crispy spring rolls) and Wantan Chien (crispy dumplings). The spring rolls were very tasty although not as good as ones we've had elsewhere. Unfortunately I didn't rate the dumplings. They were essentially just crispy batter with almost no filling. The batter was tasty but it just wasn't really a dumpling with so little filling. They also only gave us five when the menu said six, which was a bit sloppy.

For our mains I got the Sai Gon Curry with vegan chicken and my wife got the Wantan Suppe. I enjoyed my curry and I thought it tasted good although it was more basic than others I've had in Berlin. My wife’s dish lacked flavour and she ended up adding soy sauce to give it some.

This place is a decent choice if you're in the area but if you're looking for a really good Vietnamese I'd personally recommend Good Morning Vietnam Vegan.

Pros: Tasty food, Cute little restaurant

Cons: Better Vietnamese restaurants in Berlin, Crispy dumplings weren't good

Epic vegan Asian food

Fantastic little place serving Asian/Vietnamese food.

We went for their bestseller, crispy vegan duck with rice and a mix of vegetables in a mild red curry sauce; and rice noodles with tofu and the same vegetables in a hoisin-like sauce.

The mock duck was by far the best Asian dish I’ve had so far; crispy but tender, fresh and very authentic. Served in some mild red curry sauce with a side of white rice and a typical Asian mix of vegetables — what a pleasure for the senses.

The rice noodles very similarly fantastic; perfectly cooked noodles with the aforementioned side of mixed vegetables in a fabulous hoisin-like dark sauce and crispy tofu cubes. Sensational.

The restaurant itself has a light, easy-going ambiance to it. Staff are very attentive and we got served both our dishes within about 5 minutes of ordering — very impressive! Prices are also quite good—about €30 for food and drinks for a couple. Be mindful this is a cash-only establishment (which is pretty usual in Germany).

Seating, however, is rather limited so I’d expect a wait during busy periods—but it’s definitely worth it.

In short: what a little gem of a place. Totally recommend visiting.

Delicious salmon bowl

I tried the bowl that included vegan salmon and it was a delicious, very flavorful poke bowl! Everything in the menu has English underneath for visitors who might not have the best German yet 🤞

Pros: All vegan, Delicious, English menu

Cons: Cash only

Pros: Rein vegan, Schnell, Lecker

The most suitable for daily use...

Mein Favorit für die Mittagspause. Das Essen ist sehr lecker, gesund und man muss keinen Aufpreis dafür zahlen, dass kein Fleisch drin ist😄Uuund man muss auch nicht lange darauf warten.

Pros: Lecker + schnell, Sehr freundlich , Bezahlbar

Favourite local vietnamese

I’ve been coming here on and off for a long time. Really nice staff and food is consistently good. Try number 31.

One criticism is that the Pho is not that good in comparison to other vegan Vietnamese places.

Vegan Curry

I went here this summer with friends before a concert. The restaurant was medium-sized.

I had the Sai Gon Curry with seitan (8,90€) and it was good. I liked Chay Umi, but it didn't really stand out to me compared to all the other vegan asian restaurants in Berlin. I'd be happy to go back though!

Knajpa jakich wiele w Berlinie

Best crispy duck without harming ducks

We had a late dinner at Chay Umi. They have so much to choose from. We had a few different dishes, but the crispy duck was the overall favourite. I would certainly eat here again if I’m ever back in Berlin. Also they have nice selection of cocktails
