Fine - Edit
Had a cold brew with oat milk and an everything bagel with vegemite and nuttelex. Was a bit disappointed that only bagel options were jam, peanut butter or vegemite (could have made this at home). Didn’t appear to be much of a menu (granted this is a coffee bar first). The bagel tasted like a bagel and the cold brew was fine. The pastry’s looked good. Maybe try something more exciting next time.

Life changing coffee - Edit
It's ironic that most of the people who come to CBCB don't come for the coffee. So yes, it is a bold statement to call this review 'Life changing coffee'.
Read moreMost people come for the conversation, the comfortable atmosphere, the cool tunes and the knowing that however your day has gone prior to stepping through the pink doorway, it can only get better.
The place is quietly vegan and has deceived more than one or two omnivores into trying something plant-based, whether that's an (oat) iced latte, a (tofutti) cream cheese bagel or a (vegan) brownie.
The coffee, which should be mentioned, is delicious and a true notch above most other places in Melbourne. As you walk in, you'll see the row of taps and won't be the first to ponder if you've walked into a bar. On closer inspection you'll see the cold brew options, along with an iced tea and booch. There are also hot batch brews, using beans that rotate several times a week, so you're sure to be able to try something new each time you visit this cosy corner of Brunswick. (I shan't get your hopes up by telling you my favourite in case the day you go they don't have it for you, and all your hopes and dreams will be dashed)
For the adventurous, go for the nitro. There have never been complaints from anyone I know after having had a nitro. Creamy, frothy, darkly rich. Like a Guiness for morning people. Divine.
There are a number of reasons you might come to CBCB, and honestly if you're into really good coffee, then that's reason enough. But most of the custodians have other motives. The fact that over the past 18 months or 2 years, Corey, Chad and Leigh have created a space that is undeniably community-minded, with a focus on creating connections and evolving small talk into lifelong friendships, is a wonder to be marvelled at. There are people I've met at CBCB that are permanent fixtures in my life and they will not be able to shake me no matter how hard they try.
The boys make a special effort to put on events that the community enjoys, I'd highly recommend joining them for a movie night, book swap or cocktails on a saturday night to really see the place in action.
So, if you find yourself in Brunswick and want to find out how to truly live as the Brunswickians do, then stop by CBCB.

Such a cute little spot for coffee and bagels - Edit
Great place for a light lunch and coffee. The owner is really interesting and welcoming.
Read moreI had the ham, tomato and basil on an everything bagel and it was delicious. Fresh bagel, good quality tomato.
The nitro coffee was surprisingly creamy and not too strong. I'd love to try it with a bit of mylk in it next time.
There were sadly no pastries in stock when we were there, but would love to try them.
Pros: friendly service, delicious bagels, good coffee

Cute and all vegan - Edit
The store is very simple with a number of drinks and a few vegan treats. Unfortunately when I went there was only "raw" vegan sweets which isn't my thing but would have like to try a bagel or pastry. I ordered an iced chai which was nice, not too sweet. The worker was really nice and it seems like it would be a great place to relax.

compassionate coffee - Edit
I can get a vegan coffee almost anywhere but happy to support an all vegan business while I'm in the area. Serious coffee people - pretty sure they don't serve espresso, it's all about the cold brew, nitro, and filter. I felt like a hot coffee and there were two batch brews on offer - a chocolatey Brazilian and a fruity Columbian. I drink my filter coffee without milk so went with the Columbian with a glass of sparkling water on the side. They brew it strong so I imagine the Brazilian could have been delicious with oat milk too. There were a couple of raw looking chocolate treats in the cabinet which didn't appeal to me and a couple of bagels, no pastries. I'll be back to try their nitro in warmer weather.

Lovely bagels and staff - Edit
We sat outside on a lovely sunny day in Winter. I ordered an iced latte with soy. It was very nice, sometimes I find they aren’t strong enough but this was perfect. We shared a pain au chocolat and this was nice too. I liked the spread of chocolate. I had the hommus and caramelised onion bagel. It was fresh and tasty. My partner enjoyed the banana and peanut butter bagel. All vegan which is great.

Simple and nice - Edit
When I heard this place was all-vegan I made the trip across town for my morning coffee. The cafe specialises in cold brew and doesn’t serve espresso, so we ordered a couple of batchies with each of our preferred plant milks on the side. The menu is simple - crumpets, bagels, fruit toast - but just the sort of thing I feel like for a weekend breakfast. Unfortunately we missed out on the pastries because we were there on a Sunday. The relaxed space is quite intimate and friendly, and we ended up chatting to some regulars sitting beside us. We enjoyed our coffees with a couple of crumpets with vegan spreads, and when they ran out of those I had a bagel with coffee #2. I’ll be back for the coffee and the relaxed, social atmosphere - and to try the pastries.

Now that they’re reportedly completely vegan too I’m willing to travel for their coffee. Looking forward to it.
