Crunchbox items are here - Edit
Great to see a selection of Crunchbox items on offer in the glass cake cabinet. I've not had the carrot cake before and it was delicious!
Read moreThe menu has no vegan dishes but there are a few dishes marked with VGO that can be made vegan, these currently are two pasta dishes, a salad and a sandwich.
The person I was lunching with ordered the Shroomed sandwich and also Fries on the side as we were told the fries were going to be cooked in fresh oil that hadn't yet been used to cook animal products(normally they are cooked in the same oil that has been used to cook animal items).
The Shroomed sandwich is made up of mushrooms, onions, tomato, spinach, feta and pesto. It looked great, a good size, but it didn't have much flavour and was a bit bland, we soon realised that the pesto and feta hadn't been replaced with vegan alternatives, so it was just the regular sandwich with these items taken out. Had it contained vegan pesto and feta we were sure it would have been a really good sarnie - instead it was quite ordinary. Even with the feta and pesto removed it was still the same price which I gather is pretty standard in a lot of eateries, but good to be aware that this is the case here also.
The pasta dishes we saw on other tables looked pretty good, but if the non vegan items in the VGO dishes are going to be removed rather than replaced then I don't think I'll bother going back. Would be great to see at least one fully vegan dish on the menu.
The two ladies that seated us and took our order were great.
