Misleading Menu

The menu online makes it look like there are a lot of vegan options, but in reality, they just take off the meat and dairy. I called about the vegan enchiladas and they said they don’t have any vegan proteins or cheeses, it would just be veggies in the enchiladas. The person I talked to on the phone sounded like they knew what vegan meant, but then when my food came, it all had cheese on it.

Pros: Trying to cater to vegans

Cons: Misleading menu , No vegan protein or cheese

Just ok

Online menu has a “vegan option available” logo next to tons of items indicating they can make it vegan. The staff don’t seem trained on accommodating that, so making it vegan means (like most places) explaining everything you want left off. I got the popeye burrito which was black beans, spinach, rice, pico, and avocado. It was alright. Some sauce came w it on the side that looked like it was probably not vegan so if you order it be sure to ask about sauce and say no sauce. Side of fries were good.

Also, they do not have vegan cheese as someone mentioned below or I’d have gotten the California burrito. My husband isn’t vegan and got a regular California burrito - said it wasn’t very good either.

Pros: Made the food vegan, Tasted okay, Near interstate

Cons: Brought not vegan sauce, Not trained on what vegan means

No separate menu

Food was good but difficult to figure out… how to make pork enchiladas vegan? Got the California burrito vegan. No more vegan cheese😒

Appreciate all the options

There were plenty of vegan options, and they made ordering online really easy! I appreciate how many options they have and how they weren’t all predictable options. The food was good, and the portions are plentiful for the price!

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Big portions , Good prices

Ok Mexican

I tried the black bean, chipotle tofu, and potato tacos. Black bean taco was tasty but the tofu taco was mushy and watery making the tortilla soggy and the potato taco was weird. It was like mashed potatoes in a taco. The beans and rice were pretty good though.

Pros: Good amount of options, Dedicated vegetarian menu that can be made vegan

Great service, great food!

The first question we were asked when we walked in the door was Vegan or Vegetarian menu? They can substitute vegan cheese for an upcharge and have a lot of options!! Would definitely go back!

Pros: Vegan cheese available, Entire vegetarian menu

Cons: None!

Variety of options and vegan cheese

There are lots of options in the vegetarian-vegan dishes. What I have tried is nice. It isn’t fancy or super creative however if you want old school burritos etc but you would like them vegan - this is an excellent choice.

Pros: Lots of options, Vegan cheese options , Fast

Finally!

I’ve been vegetarian for 13 years and vegan for 3 and this is the first time that I’ve had something in my burrito other than beans/rice and a few veggies.
They have an amazing vegan/vegetarian menu. Just make sure to ask for it.
Loved my food and experience. I’m one happy camper!

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Nice atmosphere , Nice staff

Awesome!

This place has a full vegetarian menu and can easily veganize! Our server, Nina, was very helpful! I indulged in the Vegan Version of the Vegetable Chimichanga and it was really flavorful and packed with veggies! I loved the fluffy rice and the tasty beans as well!

Pros: Whole Vegetarian Menu that can be veganize

yes please!!!

We had the two burritos with poblano and mushrooms and the morning star crumbles..both equally as good as the next. The black beans were ok, but they have vegan cheese which made it so authentic and delish! The rice served with it is one of my top favorites ever. Great staff, and very fast service!

Ask for the vegan menu!

Plenty of options, and tasty too. Casual, and comfortable, a block or two from the waterfront.

We had a tasty, authentic meal. The separate vegetarian menu was great. The staff were helpful and friendly. There was ample food and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend Carlitos.

excellent vegan options

We are in Savannah on vacation and have eaten at three restaurants so far. We had lunch yesterday at the all vegan Natural Selections which we highly recommend. Today's lunch at the all vegan Beetnix was a severe disappointment (too expensive, tiny portions). So we went into our dinner plans at Carlitos with some trepidation. However, Carlitos is very welcoming to veg*ns of all stripes. They have a separate extensive vegetarian menu which specifies how to make items fully vegan. They even advertise to vegans on their front windows, which is how we found them. All of the wait staff were friendly to our dietary needs which included some allergies. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. As they also have a traditional menu, it's a great place to go with a mixed crowd of meat eaters and veg*ns.

Pros: vegetarian menu, friendly waitstaff, delicious

Cons: no vegan sour cream, vegan cheese costs extra

SEPARATE VEGGIE MENU!

I really enjoyed eating at Carlitos, the portions are decent, the flavors are great and the prices are reasonable. Carlitos offers vegan cheese in any of their dishes for an extra $2, to be honestly it's more of a garnish (although tasty) so I would probably just save the money and skip it next time. I ordered the enchilada combo and ate the entire thing! The rice, beans and sauce they use are so good! I would definitely come back here again!

Mexican Feast!

I enjoyed the vegan tacos and had one of each. I've never had tofu at a Mexican restaurant but it goes nicely with tacos. The chips and salsa kept coming. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I'm a Savannah visitor but wish I could come more often for this authentic Mexican flavor.

yummy surprise!

High five to James our server for recommending the vegan molcajete which is a lil bit spicy & yummy! It's basically veggies in sauce & I recommend guac on the side - I did opt for daiya on top of the molcajete - it was great.
My 8 year old had a "burrito" but be warned it comes with a red sauce on top that she frowned upon. The refried beans are tasty as heck. Margarita was "meh" because no fresh lime.

Great food, AMAZING service!

We come here often for the amazing vegan menu they offer with great items including daiya cheese quesadillas and, my favorite, the chimichangas. The last couple visits we've had an incredible server named James who took really attentive care of us and was really nice. Definitely recommend for the yummy menu and friendly staff!

Vegan Mexican!

I was so happy to be in a Mexican place that had a whole separate vegan/vegetarian menu! And you can even get vegan cheese! My husband and I both got the spice tofu tacos and they were pretty good. And they were definitely spicy. We were there at around 2 in the afternoon and it was pretty deserted. The service was good, I'd go back if we were in town again.

Pros: spicy tacos, vegan menu, daiya cheese

Best choice for Mexican food!

I LOVE the chipotle tofu burrito! The spicy tofu is incredibly hot, so unless you want to cry, you may want to stick with the chipotle tofu or just veggies. Ask for the vegan cheese (Daiya). It's important to say you're vegan and that you don't want any sour cream (They're forgotten a couple times...) There's a full two-page vegetarian/vegan menu. Free chips and salsa. It can get busy in the evenings, but we don't usually have to wait very long.

Pros: 2-page Vegan Menu, Free Chips and Salsa, Lots of seating

Cons: Street parking only, Need to remind them about the sour cream
