Tasty large portions - Edit
I did not expect to feel so full after this little cafe stop. Got the BBQ bowl and peanut curry bowl and couldn't finish them between the two of us. Will be back.

I ordered the "Portland" bowl, which includes quinoa, black beans, kale, carrots, maple

Good but... - Edit
The fresh fruit granola bowl was really yummy but they forgot the balsamic vinegar for my friend’s quinoa salad and I think it’d be possible to find the same quality food for cheaper. Still good though and the building has a cute vibes.

This was a delicious and healthy option after eating so many vegan doughnuts and ice cream during my trip to Portland. I got the walnut-taco salad. Great flavor and very filling!

Cute little spot for breakfast or lunch - Edit
It was my first full day living in Portland when I went to Canteen with my partner and it was a delightful welcome to the neighborhood. Everything is fresh and delicious. Service is friendly and fast and everything was amazing. I had the walnut taco bowl and my partner has the southwest bowl, plus tea and cheesecake. Wonderful! Vant wait to go back for more!

Love this place! - Edit
I always order TWO walnut taco salads with extra cashew nacho spread on the side for added goodness. So fresh, raw, and satisfying. I can easily eat here daily. Double ginger shots and fresh pressed juice. Excellent service from every employee I’ve ever interacted with. Lovely location, interior, vibe, and very comfortable (heated) back seating area.

Yummy - Edit
Saw this place on happycow and added it to our to-try list for Portland. It's a casual little place that offers a good selection of drinks and different kinds of bowls.

No Great Shakes - Edit
I tried Canteen's location on Stark Street. The restaurant exterior is 'unrefined - modern' if such a style exists? Nothing particularly stands out about the place and the interior is also quite simple. I ordered a Sweet Greens juice ($7 for their smaller size) and their Bangkok Bowl: avocado curry & red curry peanut sauce, long brown rice, aduki beans, broccoli, red cabbage, kimchi, black sesame seeds (for $11). After paying a standard tip I ended up spending just over $20. Truthfully, I haven't returned nor do I remember anything particularly interesting on the menu that made me want to return and come back for seconds. My experience at Canteen wasn't poor. The food was passable but I found it a bit lackluster in flavor and uninspired ~ somewhat of a copied mainstream vegan bowl you can find anywhere in Portland. Because Portland is such a foodie scene for so many plant-based food lovers - I have to admit that there are much better options out there for the same price if not a little cheaper.

Delicious Breakfast Bowl - Edit
I wasn't sure what to expect when I first saw this place. It isn't very welcoming on the outside and is a "no frills" place on the inside as well. The service was good and the person behind the counter steered me in the right direction with the bowl that she recommended. The portion size was hearty and the ingredients fresh and delicious. I left satisfied and with thoughts of returning when I next visit Portland.

Filling and Healthy - Edit
My husband and I ate here. Parking is difficult to find (there seemed to be only one spot) but the place is cozy and has three seating areas (inside, outside and kind of a tent). The employees were nice. We ordered the Portland Bowl and the Southern Bowl to go. Both were tasty, although we preferred the Portland Bowl. Large portions and very filling. I also appreciated feeling like I was eating very healthy. My only issue was the person who made all the food while I was watching used her bare hands the entire time. This included all the raw foods that were put directly into my food. I had an "ick" moment from that, but I still enjoyed my food.

I had a long flight from Portland to DC so instead of chances that horrid airport food I stopped in Canteen for some to-go grub. The smoothie and juice bar also makes an array of Bowls and Salads. I went with the Bangkok Bowl and a side of Rice and Beens. Both were appetizing and satisfied my cravings. They also serve healthy breakfasts such as oatmeal, parfait a and granola bowls.

Oregon-ic Bowls Of goodness - Edit
We shared the Walnut Taco salad and the Southern bowl. Both delicious, organic, and we took advantage of the yummy local hot sauces they offer. I suggest you do what we do and share everything you eat, the combo was awesome. I also got the summer breeze juice, I've never had cilantro in a juice, but it works! It works surprisingly well and really complimented the food. We sat outside in the sunshine on stumps. We also really like the canteen logo, the food pyramid with the "eat" and "drink" text in the veggie portion of the pyramid. Simplistic, clever, and a universal way to share the importance of a plant based lifestyle.
