5-star worthy!

For the (not exactly vegan-friendly) island of La Palma, this restaurant is as good as it gets and a must-do for vegan and vegetarian people. Camu Camu is an omnivore restaurant (serving fish and meat, alongside plenty of vegetarian and vegan starters, main dishes and desserts) that’s very conscious of dietary restrictions (e.g. gluten free/lactose free/vegetarian/vegan), thus accommodating most customers!
There’s a recent version of their menu on HappyCow and you can read up on their vegan options there. We asked one of the staff and they informed us that most of the vegetarian dishes (obviously with the exception of dairy based ones) can easily be veganized upon request. There’s plenty of plant-based milk alternatives offered, too!

Specific recommendations:

Their vegan aioli is delicious and frankly pairs with just about any potato dish. They make an awesome barraquito (a traditional Canarian coffee consisting of condensed milk, regular milk, liquor, lime and an espresso) and the barraquito, too, can be veganized and will make you understand why it’s such a staple in Canarian culture!
Camu Camu offers a great view from their terrace (gorgeous sunsets!), so make sure to call ahead of time and reserve a table (especially on weekends) if you care for the ocean view.

Another, Camu Camu unrelated tip for people new to the island might be to pair their restaurant visit with a stop by the nearby Mercadillo de Puntagorda for locally sourced vegetables, fruit, pastries and fresh sugarcane juice. The market in Puntagorda is only open on Saturdays and Sundays and you should check their hours before taking the drive and make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes before closing time or most things will already have been sold.

Pros: Vegan Aioli, Healthy, vegan options, International, multilingual staff

Cons: Quite the long drive depending on where you live, Limited parking (down the road from Camu Camu!!)

Zeer beperkte keus

quirky little restaurant with nice food

I really appreciated to find vegan food in the middle of a small island without vegan culture.
Nice ambient, amazing view from the terrace. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. And dog friendly!!!
Go and try!

Good and food amazing but...

Dogs are allowed inside. Before coming in, we asked if we could sit outside but the guy was nice and told us that weather was too windy and it was dangerous, so he kindly asked us to come inside. (he was right haha). We went with my dog and there was another dog and spontaneously she barked a couple times. One of the waitresses approached us, in a very rude way, and told us that if our dog was acting like this we should bring her into the car, because people wasn't there to be bothered. The way she told us this wasn't appropriate at all. We ate AMAZING. Food was VERY GOOD. But the way the waitress spoke at us left us with a very sour taste. It's a pity because everything was fine. I'm sorry but if you allow dogs, you should know they bark. And it wasn't a very loud or continuous bark. Just a couple times.

Pros: Many vegan options , Variety vegan/vegetarian, Good quality food

Cons: Waitress was too rude about my dog

Me pedí la hamburguesa vegana y el burrito de falafel (cambiando la salsa de yogur por mojo verde) y estaban las dos cosas buenísimas.

Pros: Opciones veganas diversas, Buena calidad, Buen servicio

Cons: Estaba bastante lleno, No nos sirvieron un plato que pedimos, Pocos platos veganos

Good range of veggie options, vegan cappuccino

Great coffee, with vegan (foamy) cappuccinos (using soya, almond or oat milk) and lovely cakes (not too sweet). Lovely friendly staff, with a relaxed welcoming attitude.

Pros: Reasonable prices, Good coffee with plant milk options, Nice home-made cakes

Cons: No longer vegetarian-only; serve some meat dishes.

Super tasty

The food was great!
Although the staff had to think about what was vegan or could be veganized and it was a bit expensive, it was very good and tasty!
A good alternative.

Pros: Tasty, Mostly local

Cons: Pricey
