Lovely cafe and garden seating

There are a few items on the menu for vegans, I opted for the vegan cheese and chilli panini which was delicious. They also have vegan cakes.

Pros: The garden seating, Staff, Panini

All sections of the menu had a vegan option. The ciabatta was lovely and the vegan fruit scone was gorgeous.

Books, soup and scones

Thanks HappyCow, another winning find via the app. I went in very hungry and left satisfied after some beautiful home cooked foods.

I will be returning as soon as I have the opportunity.

Lovely atmosphere

I took my girlfriend out for a vegan afternoon tea. This was one of the first places I found that offered such catering. The atmosphere was very nice, lots of local history on the walls and old books to browse.

Pros: Good tea, Good coffee, Filling

Great little bookshop cafe.

Cafe attached to an epic new and second hand bookshop offering teas coffees and cakes. There was a vegan sandwich, a toasted ciabatta, jacket potato and a very nice salad. They did 2 vegan cakes and a fruit scone. It was all delicious. The two ladies there were very nice. Reasonable priced. Relaxing atmosphere.

Pros: Cakes excellent , Limited food but excellent , Wonderful servic.

Cons: Just needs more vegan savoury options

Pretty Naff for vegans

I should not have expected much in the way of interesting and tasty vegan food in a place like Carlisle. There wasn’t much suitable for vegans available the day I went here and what I did have they asked if I’d like it with dairy butter. Needless to say it was ok just not very exciting.

Pros: Tiny glimmer of hope in an otherwise backward city, Bookshop is pretty good.

Cons: A tad expensive , Unimaginative

Great cake

I had the most amazing Jaffa cake , also on offer were vegan flapjacks, lemon drizzle cake and the obligatory chocolate brownie

They charge 50p extra for oat milk, but no extra charge for soya. It is annoying the cafes continue to charge extra for alternatives

Pros: Amazing cake, Free WiFi, Quirky cafe, great bookshop

Cons: Charge extra for oat milk, No vegan lunch items

Nice selection of vegan cakes

Savoury vegan choices more limited. Soy milk available at no extra cost (and don’t) curdle in my coffee. Good coffee. Oat milk was 50p extra

Pros: Several vegan cakes, Cheerful, friendly and helpful staf, Relaxed atmosphere

Cons: Oat milk extra charge, Limited vegan savoury, no vegan lite bites
