Good, but kinda expensive - Edit
A bit expensive for a town as small as St. Pölten I'd say (the other café with vegan options is much cheaper), but my waiter was a fellow countryman and gave me a crash course on life and the restaurant scene in Austria, rent and property prices and local vocabulary, so I had a really good time here. Really loved the bao buns and the mushrooms inside, even though they were kinda lacking in the veggie/greens department. They have 3 or 4 more vegan mains on the menu now. They also had a vegan muffin, a chocolate lava cake (without lava) and cookies, which were not labelled (ask staff!). The lava cake didn't have a liquid core, as I expected, but was super duper chocolate-y and almost too much for me to handle, as it tasted like a piece of dense chocolate ganache.

Nice place 😊 - Edit
I really liked the food. The staff was half friendly and half not so much, because some of our group were not speaking German. Coffe and breakfast, soups or burger, vegan options available, it was good 😊

Okay - Edit
I’ve been to Café Schubert many times as I appreciate that they have several vegan options, but recently it doesn’t satisfy me as much anymore.
Read moreToday I had the porridge which was completely okay, but simply boring. I also ordered the Matcha Chai Latte with oat milk, and besides the fact that they charge you 0,50€ extra for plant milk, it’s been the most bitter tasting Matcha Latte I’ve ever had.
Honestly I think it’s too expensive for what they offer. (Matcha Latte with oat milk was 5,90€ and was really not good).
The atmosphere is nice though, they’ve got some interesting art and fancy mural painting. The staff is very sweet, too. Finding back from the toilet is always a bit of a struggle as you need to pass three different doors.
Hope they raise their quality again!
