Overpriced and tiny portions. - Edit
We were so disappointed with this place because we were so excited to try it. Paid 240 baht (about €7) for the acai bowl. It was tiiiiiiny! Tasty...but tiny. Way overpriced for the small portion. They give a free coffee for a good review which I think is just unethical. Lion and Shark is nicer - cheaper with bigger portions.

Cons: Too expensive.

Suitable for Vegetarians, not vegans— Unclear Menu/Confused Servers - Edit
I preface this with that fact that I have a reasonable expectation of the limits of accommodating a diet with a language barrier. However, when the menu lists items as vegan and your server is from Australia/fluent English speaker, and both come with cheese, there’s little excuse.
Read moreDespite stating that we were vegan when we were ordering a few times, our food (which was marked as vegan on the menu) came out with cheese that was completely absent from the description. While they did correct the mistake eventually, the final product was hardly worth waiting for. I’d sooner eat the vegan breakfast at my hotel, complimentary toast and tomato slices, before returning to spend way too much money on gross western food. Skip it, head up the road to Mama Restaurant.

Pros: Mojito was good, Server was willing to admit mistake, sorta

Good food and location - Edit
Not too far from the beach they have a decent selection of vegan options. I had the chickpea tacos which were amazing. They ran out of avocado so made mine with pumpkin and honestly I think it was better that way! The watermelon lemonade was good too.

Great vegan brunch! - Edit
We had a great vegan brunch. We had the best coffee we had so far in Thailand, with almond milk 👌. We ordered the Acaì bowl and the sandwich with artisjokes, aubergine, humus and pesto. It was super dilicious and really filling. We had the pineapple papaya juice as well. Lovely!

Good - Edit
Originally went for breakfast in which I received great food and lovely service. However when returned another day for dinner the women who took my order misheard (English wasn’t great) and gave me chilli nachos instead of cauliflower tacos, however, they apologised and made me a new meal. The portion size was small but the food was great. Staff were kind

Great cafe and restaurant. I think the best coffee in the town. There is a option of almond/soy/coconut milk to your coffee. (higher prices but in the centre)

Too much salt, oil & sugar - Edit
I ate here several days in Feb 2019. It’s a nice atmosphere with outdoor covered patio. Menu is clearly marked for Vegan options and they will substitute and custom make non-vegan items into vegan for you upon request. I liked the smoothie bowls (Açaí and Mango), but be sure to ask for “no sugar” because I think they added sugar (completely NOT necessary! Why do places in Thailand do that!? People who order a smoothie bowl are looking for Healthy Options, not added sugar!). I also ordered a smoothie another day (with no sugar) and it was okay, but not amazing.
Read moreThen I ordered the Artichoke salad (made vegan, substituting Feta with mushrooms). It was $250 Baht and so so so oily! I was looking for a healthy lunch and this wasn’t it. I got a stomach ache after from having so much oil; it was also very salty with a lot of added salt.
I wouldn’t recommend the salads or smoothies. However, I would recommend the sugar-free mango smoothie bowl. Also my friend ordered the Avocado toast and that looked good too, if I come back I’ll try that.
Pros: Vegan items marked on menu, They can substitute items to make things vegan, Mango Bowl was really good
Cons: Not the healthiest. , Added sugar, Too much oil

Nice staff, ok food, poor management. - Edit
We stopped by for late lunch one day. We were nicely welcomed and accommodated. They showed us the menu (which is very nicely labeled for vegan & vegetarian options). Then they showed us a hand written paper with all the ingredients they had ran out of for the day. As mentioned in a previous review the vegan options are few. After checking the hand-written list and checking that against the menu, I was left with no vegan options and my husband had the vegetarian pasta option to choose. That day was the first day boat rides were cancelled because of an approaching storm. We understood they might have been caught by surprise and decided to return the next day when they would be better prepared. Unfortunately that was not the case. We came back the next day for dinner and were welcomed by a hand- written sheet (again) with a long list of ingredients they did not have. There was a vegan main entree available so we decided to stay. The food was ok but nothing extraordinary. Other vegan and vegetarian options in town offer more flavorful meals.
Read moreAgain, the staff was very friendly and kept apologizing for the limited options. One of them mentioned the avocados they use come from Australia and because of the storm delivery had been delayed.
The restaurant has a very welcoming ambiance, but unfortunately, this time they failed to deliver what they say is offered.
Pros: Welcoming ambiance , Extremely friendly staff, Properly labeled menu
Cons: Few vegan options other than salads, Meals on menu not available, Long wait to be served

Nice place...very expensive - Edit
The place was crowded, people smoking everywhere so we had to smell the cigarettes...
Read moreThe staff was very nice, we came as a vegan couple so we asked for help, turns out the place has only 2 main dishes that are vegan...
So we didn't really had a choice, we ordered those dishes, and we waited about 25 minutes until we finally got to eat.
The food was good but not extraordinary but the surprise was the payment, this place is super expensive, about two times the average price of Ao Nang.
Would not recommend for vegans to come here
Pros: Nice staff
Cons: Expensive, Not alot of choices

Came hungry and left hungry - Edit
Came with my hungry family and all of us had excitement to try some new dishes after being in Thailand for a few weeks. We got a table that was next to the bathroom and the toilet was visible from our seat😒The prices are about double from most local spots and we were ok with it but unfortunately there is only a couple of dishes available for a vegan diet. We tried to order 3 dishes but two were not available, the waitress spoke English just fine but somehow didn’t understand that we are plant based only and she kept making vegetarian suggestions even though I repeatedly told her that we are not vegetarians. Quite a strange thing to do for a “vegan friendly restaurant”.
Read moreWe walked down the street to Govinda’s wich is also veg-vegan friendly and happily spent all the money there on delicious food.
Hopefully cafe 8.98 can get it together in the future...

You have to be that annoying vegan - Edit
Incredible service and friendly English speaking staff.
Read moreI ordered a green smoothie and avocado on toast and said no cheese on the avo on toast.
The smoothie came out and I took a few sips of it and it tasted a bit off so when the meal came out I asked if the smoothie was dairy free (the ingredients listed on the menu were kiwi, kale, banana, spinach and coconut milk) and the waitress said that they put a little bit of yoghurt in it despite it not mentioning that on the menu.
The meal came out and it looked beautiful and it tasted okay however the bread was dense like a cake and I was paranoid that I had egg so I just ate the toppings just to be safe (was also paranoid because it specified on if the bread types on the sides menu was dairy free so I assumed the rest weren’t).
Overall it was my fault for not giving them the complete extent of my dietary requirements but i didn’t want to be annoying or difficult but just be aware.
Also super expensive, by a smoothie from a street vendor.
Pros: Western food, Service is good
Cons: Misinformation , Expensive

Fresh salad full of interesting veg - Edit
I had the artichoke and avocado salad which was so fresh and tasty. It was nice to have pomegranate seeds too. I also had a vanilla almond milk latte- good coffee! The menu has vegetarian options clearly labelled but you have to ask for vegan. The staff were knowledgable and friendly. The atmosphere is nice and chilled.

Vegan breakfast options a little limited but lunch and dinner have more options that can be altered if needed to remove cheese etc. Staff very accommodating to do so. New bean burger (without cheese) is great. Great ambience as not usually over-run with tourists. Do a great Friday night tapas night every few weeks. New branch in center of krabi town also.

The place designed like a western restaurant, maybe that’s the reason for the pricey food.
