Worth trying

This place was very small and cute! The building really had the japanese style from inside and out! The staff was great and welcoming! They didn't speak a lot of english but they had english menus. The food was great very healthy tasty and organic but the portions were small and it was a little pricy! They served me a meal tray with lots of differents things on it wich is great to try different types of foods (beans, tofu, salad, pickled vegetables, miso soup, rice). I would recommend this place it is worth trying at least one time to experience traditional japanese vegan foods !

Pros: Ttaditional japanese meals

Cons: Small portions

Lots of options, nice lady, but I hated the food

This is a tough review. This restaurant has many good points: lots of vegan options, an English menu, nice staff, and a focus on natural, healthy food. However, I hated the food.
The main focus of this restaurant is fermented food. And while I absolutely love miso, tempeh, or kimchi, and can even stomach natto , I really didn't like most of their stuff. I ordered a vegan set meal and it contained a bunch of small veggies dishes (some of them unknown to me), with various seasoning, and I had a very hard time finishing most of them. I really didn't expect to be served fermented vegetables and not like it (again, I usually love this stuff).
I still give this place 3 stars, because there's nothing wrong with it; it's just a bad match for my taste.

Charming place with fantastic food!

Lots of vegan alternatives, nutritionally-conscious and exciting food! They knew all the english needed regarding ingredients, veganism and nut-allergy. Cute place!

Friendly, cozy, delicious experience

English menu with dedicated vegan options (which are the majority of items). The food was delicious, very diverse, organic with a lot of fermented and traditional japanese food. We were a big group and were greeted warmly and the waitress could speak a bit English. They pushed tables together for us, so we could eat together (place is fairly small, but cozy!). We had vegan lunch, koso lunch and koso donbri with ice-cream made of sake as dessert even though they were about to close. Overall absolutely nice experience, super recommendable!!! A bit pricey though, but worth it!

Pros: many vegan options, dedicated labels, english menu, friendly, helpful staff, cozy place, traditional, diverse, delicious food

Cons: a bit pricey, but worth it!

Best traditional Japanese food 🌱 5 stars ⭐️

I had a vegan lunch set and was amazing! It is a bit more pricey (around £30 for two people for organic enzyme drinks, mains and dessert which is still okay under UK standards) than average but totally worthy. Organic clean eating best taste! What else do you need?

The place itself is not fully vegan/vegetarian, they also have some meat options. However, most dishes are vegan or vegetarian. They have an English version of the menu and it contains pictures. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They do not speak much English but it is enough to make themselves understood (I don’t speak any Japanese, so I really appreciate them
trying 🙂 )

The atmosphere was very relaxing and quiet! I came out so happy and chilled!

This is definitely a 5 star cafe, but since it is not fully vegan/vegetarian, HappyCow only allowed me to rate it 4 stars 😩

Pros: Healthy , Clean eating, Amazing taste

Cons: need to take shoes off -not necessarily a con, Limited English level -again not a real con, I want to come back everyday ;)

5⭐️

Unfortunately we can only put 5stars to vegan and vegetarian restaurant, but in this restaurant every is vegan except the daily dish, if I understood.

I could try many different kind of vegetables with brown rice and a delicious tofu. I also ate a delicious cake make with sake.
The staff are lovely and can speak English ;)

Pros: small and quiet place

Lovely cafe

Staff was lovely and did speak a some English. There is an English menu which makes it very easy to order. We had the curry (which comes with different spiciness levels) and it was delicious! Amazing, fresh vegetables and a nice cozy atmosphere. Great if you’re around the Nijo castle area. Highly recommend.

Pros: English menu, Healthy

Great little cafe

We ate here on our first night in Kyoto. The food is Japanese only, which is what we were looking for. The menu is also only in Japanese but it was easy to spot the Vegan options. We took a gamble and asked the server to recommend something.

The food was great and the service was impeccable! Cozy cafe and you can see him prepare the food right behind you. We will try to come back for lunch once before leaving.

Convenient walking distance from nearby Noku Kyoto which is where we were staying.

Wonderful vegan options

A great little Japanese place. The staff don’t speak much English but are lovely. The menu is all in Japanese but vegan is indicated. We had a set lunch with pickled vegetables, salad, miso soup, and brown rice. Fairly cheap and some great Japanese flavours.

cozy place

Set meals marked as vegan, but all japanese. Staff was very friendly and accommodating and explained the options. Tasty japanese food! Freshly prepared, takes a minute...
