Easy food and great location

Very nice location overlooking the cactus garden. Food was good and easy but note that the cactus burger and prickly pair croquettes are NOT vegan, even if you ask they cannot make for you as vegan version contrary to other reviews below.

Cactus experience

We tried the cactus burger and the cactus nuggets. Unfortunately we didn't ask the waiter for more info and we got both with cheese inside. So if you are vegan be careful and always ask what is vegan and what is not or can be made vegan.

This café/restaurant in the gorgeous cactus garden is almost entirely vegetarian with numerous vegan options. Highly recommended.

Delicious cactus burger

The menu is marked with a (v) for vegetarian options, plenty of choice! You need to speak to the staff to clarify what is vegan, it was a little confusing as the allergen menu didn't seem to match what the waiter told us 😅

BUT, cactus burger was delicious and unique experience.

Overall happy!

Very good vegan options

This small restaurant is situated in the Jardín de Cactus in Lanzarote, which was originally created by the famous artist Cesar Manrique. The food was excellent and there are lots of vegan options. Service was also good. You have to be careful though because they don’t fully distinguish between vegan and vegetarian dishes and there is simply a V symbol on both of them on the menu. You need to ask or check to be sure. For example I had to tell the waiter to give me my cactus burger without cheese. Portions were also a bit small. Prices were good. Overall it was excellent and worth visiting.

Vegan canarian dishes

Thoroughly enjoyed the cactus burger and canarian potatoes, staff were happy to provide information on what was and wasn’t vegan. A good way to try traditional canarian dishes as a vegan.

Pros: Great food, Unique choices

Cons: Not fully vegan

Mostly vegetarian menu

Some vegan dishes with only one labelled. But have a look at the allergy menu to know if the vegetarian items are suitable for vegans.
So far noticed the following likely vegan, rest items have dairy and eggs.
1. Ⓥ Vegan ‘Ropa Vieja’, fried chickpeas mixed with spices and vegetables 8.50
2. Jardín de Cactus | Papaya, mango and pineapple 5.00
3.Ⓥ Cactus maki with avocado 9.00
4. Ⓥ Roast vegetable sandwich with black olive paté 7.00
5. Ⓥ Heura* chicken nuggets 8.50
*Set of proteins that come from soy beans, therefore, it is a food of 100% vegetable origin.
6. Ⓥ Jardin Sorbet with prickly pear and apple 6.00
7. Ⓥ Baby lettuce, courgette, piquillo peppers and walnuts 9.00
8. Ⓥ Our canarian salt boiled potatoes and their mojos 6.50
9. Smoothies selection

Castillo de San José | Pineapple and coconut 5.00
Jardín de Cactus | Papaya, mango and pineapple 5.00
Montañas del Fuego | Pear and mango 5.00
Jameos del Agua | Blueberry, raspberry, apple and mango 5.00
Mirador del Río | Peach, strawberry and papaya 5.00
Casa-museo del Campesino | Strawberry and banana 5.00

I had the Jardín de Cactus | Papaya, mango and pineapple 5.00 & Ⓥ Vegan ‘Ropa Vieja’, fried chickpeas mixed with spices and vegetables 8.50

Pros: Vegan options

Cons: Serves dairy and meat, Slightly expensive.

Ropa Vieja & Nopal ice cream with a view

Overall there are a lot of vegan options and its a nice way to soak in the cactus garden. The Ropa Vieja was delicious (although a very small tapas portion). The Cactus Burger was okay, not the best vegan burger but an interesting experience – be sure to omit the sauce that has cheese in it. Nopal maki was really silly I don't recommend it at all for that price! And lastly the vegan Nopal ice cream was delicious, totally recommended!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Vegan Nopal ice cream & Ropa Vieja, Great view of Cactus Garden

Cons: Portions are tapas style, Cactus maki not worth price at all!

Some vegan options available but be careful...

It was great to see that they have some vegan options available but we were disappointed to discover that our cactus burger contained cheese after the server ensured that it was vegan.

Pros: Good variety of veg options, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Misinformed staff, Price

Lifesaver for vegans

What a great surprise to find a major tourist site in Lanzarote offering clearly marked vegetarian/vegan options in the menu. Good food and service in the beautiful environment of the Cactus Garden. Eating outside while admiring the cactus was a real pleasure.
