Burger choices for vegans and vegetarians - Edit
I don't usually eat burgers, but wanted to try my local Burger Fuel, part of a New Zealand based 'gourmet burger' franchise that is expanding beyond national borders into Australia and the Middle East. Burger Fuel has a 'green' philosophy - it's packaging is biodegradable and its printing inks water based vegetable ingredients. The burgers have wholemeal (vegan) or glutenfree buns. Vegans can choose three kinds of patties: lentil, a pumpkin-lentil pattie or tofu. While vegetarians may include a vegetarian cheese slice and/or aioli, vegans may replace these with avocado, satay or other vegan sauce options. We also had a side of kumara (sweet potato) chips. These and other sides are cooked in pure canola oil. Vege and vegan patties are cooked separately from any meat products and the franchise has ticks from the NZ and Australian Vegetarian Societies.
