Indian Chain - Edit
Good beers and good food. Not the true indian experience, more a fusion and chain kind of restaurant. The food was good nonetheless. Location is very central in Liverpool.

So delicious. Chilled vibes, knowledgable and friendly staff, AWESOME craft beers and such gorgeous food. Almost everything is vegan. Really reasonably priced. Partner and I had a couple beers and about 8 dishes off the menu (so much food, leftovers inc)! About £45 in all.

Indian for lunch? Yes please - Edit
Bundobust, located in Bold Street is probably my new favourite lunch place. The interior of the restaurant reminds me of the canteen in my previous office but with better food, a bar, and without the dinner ladies.
Read moreMy Indian friend recommended me this place - he said that he prefers this place than Mowgli - so it must be very good. The restaurant caters for both vegan and vegetarian. They offer a weekday lunch set menu for £9. There are plenty of beer options too. However since I don't drink, I'm going to skip on the alcohol on this review.
In the regular British-Indian restaurant, you would see a lot of 'korma', 'jalfrezi', or 'madras'. In Bundobust, they serve Indian home/ street food, such as rajma, chaat, bhel puri, and pav bhaji. Since my favourite legume is kidney beans, so naturally I ordered rajma with rice with a side of okra fries.
I have made rajma a few times before and I love it - but Bundobust's rajma is better. It's warm, tomatoey, perfectly balanced, not too spicy, and is the perfect companion for basmati rice, but I wish the portion could be a bit bigger. The okra fries were surprisingly crispy - but I found them a tad too salty.
Although the food was amazing, I'm unsure why do they opt for disposable cutlery and food containers? Perhaps this is done to mimic the street food feelings?
But still, it won't change my decision to pick Bundobust from now on for lunch.

Okra fries. Every time I eat here, I have to have okra fries, they’re amazing. They have a takeout lunch menu which is discounted, as well as the eat in menu. Compostable single use cutlery and single use paper plates and bowls, everything I’ve eaten there has been delicious.

Amazing Indian street food - Edit
We had the vegan combo for 2: sweetcorn chevdo, okra fries, bhajis, Bhel puri, raghda pethis & Chloe saag vegan chais and non alcoholic cocktails. Food and drink was all amazing. Favourite was probably the Chloe saag (rice chickpea curry). Nice atmosphere. The cocktails were labelled as vegan but not sure about beers & wine. #Veganuary

Best Indian Food! - Edit
This is a small chain with other branches in Leeds and Manchester. I think this Liverpool one is the newest. The menu is veggie and, I would say, 80% vegan. There are a few dishes with yoghurt or paneer and a few which contain egg. We got the vegan combo for 2 and I think it's the best, tastiest Indian food I've ever had. The portions were generous and the set platter left us feeling full. The wines are all vegan which is always a plus for me. The staff were friendly and helpful and the place was warm and inviting with lots of seating. It's just a shame that it isn't fully vegan because it so easily could be. Absolutely fantastic place totally recommended!

Authentic Indian food - Edit
We really enjoyed eating the food here. We came on a weekend lunch (before covid restrictions fully lifted), and didn’t need a reservation. We thought it was really authentic Indian food (I am British Indian). A waitress was telling us about the Indian owners and Indian chefs. We particularly enjoyed the okra fries and the smacked cucumber.

Hair in the Okra Fries 🤦🏻♀️ - Edit
I’m a huge fan of Indian food and nipped in to get food to take away. The okra fries were generally okay but once I found a hair in them I was happy to throw the food away - grossed me out and it didn’t taste great before hand. Massively disappointed.

Great food, lovely options with great position sizes. Some of the staff lacked basic customer service skills, a little sad really as I’m sure they’re others who would happily take their job.

Modern Indian food - Edit
This place is really interesting, it has a cafeteria feel with seating at many long tables but somehow still feels very hip and tidy? The whole place is a bit of a contradiction that way, with good quality food coming in takeaway-style containers, a full bar with great cocktails coming in proper glasses. The cocktail I had used aquafaba to create foam on top (the way egg is used in non-vegan bars), it was very cute!
