Vegetarian pizza place with vegan cheese option. Relocated from 103 Hebron Rd. Open Mon-Thu 10:00am-12:00am, Fri 11:00am-3:00pm, Sat 5:30pm-12:00am, Sun 10:00am-12:00am.
Surprisingly, a few people I know really like this place and I can't understand why. The price of pies is on the lower side of high end Israeli Pizzarias. The large Vegan starts at 75 Shekels without any toppings. The small pie starts at 50. The size of the small pies are underwhelming and don't even fill up the little boxes. Although it is listed as "a pie for 2", it would leave 2 grown adults pretty hungry.
What else is wrong:
-The crust is thickish and too doughy
-The vegan cheese is pretty clearly the cheap Potato and Coconut oil type which sticks to the roof of your mouth and is definitely not cashew based. (For the record, I have no problem with that kind of Vegan cheese on a 30 or 35 Shekel pie, but when you are paying over 70 Shekels, I would appreciate some quality. )
-They are super cheap with toppings. I got half a small pie with pineapple and it was 8 shekels. For 8 Shekels there were on the 4 slices a total of 9 Canned Pineapple chunks (or about 2 chunks on each slice) meaning for every little chunk of pineapple they were charging a Shekel. They easily could have put a third or fourth chunk of pineapple on each slice.
-Cheap as well with accesories. I ordered 3 pies and got 1 tiny spice packet per pie, and 1 cardboard plate per pie.
-Salad- According to my better half, ridiculously salty for no reason, cheap with the Salad Dressing, and the Bulgarian cheese had a wierd taste and texture.
On the bright side, they have a beautiful and easy to use website for ordering, they use fresh Mushrooms, and the sauce has a nice flavor in which you taste the spices and oregano.
Buchman's actual name is "Buchman's NY PIzza", but this taste nothing like a New York Slice. The bigger pies look like sicilian, but just like the smaller ones the dough is all wrong. In reality it reminds me more of Israeli Pizza from the early 90's (beofre Israelis discovered the art of making good pizza), but with higher prices.
