My dear friends who stopped for a snack was met with a very unprofessional and rude owner. Coming out of the store before they could even enter to make a purchase. Yelling if your not here to buy jerky leave. They are kind, responsible, and respectful adults. They parked off to the side to allow their pet to relieve himself. They were only there for less than 5 minutes. his reaction was unwelcoming at best, agitated, and rude. Poor customer service. There are many ways to treat customers with respect and thoughtfulness to build their brand. If he had concerns about customers with pets an easy win is to create one small spot for pets to relieve themselves. Responsible dog owners will pick up after themselves.
Please do not support this heartless business owner! While on our way to U of M for a medical appointment, my son (who has a spinal cord injury from a car accident) had a bathroom emergency. We quickly pulled into this shop, and used the outdoor porta-potty. The owner came out and glared me. I chose to ignore him, but when my sons had finished and I had his wheelchair loaded back up, the owner confronted me asking if I had seen the sign that said it was for customers. I explained the situation and asked if he had seen my sons wheelchair. He said, “yeah I saw his chair, but I gotta watch my bottom line.” I hope this heartless man never experiences the trials that my son faces on a daily basis, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, but what kind of person can’t help someone in need? please do not support him as a business owner. He doesn’t deserve your business.
Thank you for writing about your experience. I was going to check out the vegan section and decided not to after what I read. What a heartless person to respond in such a way. I am sorry for all your son and family has had to go through.
Thank you Mama Bear. I feel so bad for you and your son.
I won’t stop at this jerky business. Jerky makes humans constipated anyway. It’s best to eat natural produce, like fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. I would rather not be constipated on jerky, albeit vegan.
Im so sorry that happened to you. I wish you and your family well. This owner has not learned from his past. My friends had a similar experience as you. Granted they did not have a medical concern with a loved one. However, their pet is a part of their family. It’s sad that people especially business owners who can really make a difference with their interactions are hatful and rude.
Although this place may have originally had animal-flesh, it now has a whole wall dedicated to vegan producs. They have teamed up with Lousiville Jerky, Beleaf, and others to provide a variety of jerkies. My personal favorite is the spicy Beleaf terriyaki. They also have a fridge and section full of other goodies I haven't explored yet! They also do shipment orders online! Would recommend to stop here!
