Vegan burritos!

Always looking for a great breakfast burrito. This place is a local favorite. Get the hot sauce, it’s hot!

Pros: Clean , Consistent , Local favorite

Good flavor, pretty HOT!

Each of us can handle different levels of heat. I can easily handle the salsa of most restaurants, as well as any medium salsa from a jar. So when given the options mild, 50-50, or fuego I chose 50-50. The Bon-asaurus burrito had great flavor with the first bite, until the heat hit! With each bite, the heat increased until I opened up the burrito and saw loads of the Anaheim peppers. I had to pull them out of the mix in order to keep eating; in the end I had a pile the size of a plum. With my mouth already burning, it was difficult to tell if the 50-50 salsa was too hot or not. Just a cautionary tale.
The chips and guac are superb, especially the chips!

Pros: Chips and guac, general flavor of Bon-asaurus, patio with foothills view

Cons: first bag of chips given was 90% finely crushed, intense heat of too many peppers (seeds?), filling too soupy for the tortilla to handle

Green chili HAS MEAT

Their website explicitly says "Green Chili is not vegetarian" as of May 2023.
https://bonfireburritos.com/?page_id=89392

Green chili is used as a sauce in the southwest and contains pork by default.

Only has 1 vegan burrito and 1 vegetarian option. Without the green chili, they aren't great.

You can survive here if you are eating with omnivores, but I wouldn't go otherwise.

Cons: Green chili has meat , Only 1 vegan option

Tasty Burrito but conflicting Green Chili status

Today was my first time eating here, I ordered the Bonasarus, and asked if the green chili was vegan- the guy said, No. So I had him put salsa on it instead of the green chili. I don't know why something labeled as "vegan" would have green chili on it that isn't vegan, it's possible the guy just didn't know.
The burrito was tasty, I do wish it had more beans than rice but it was tasty none the less.

One Fantastic Choice

The Bon-Asaurus is a great burrito! Perfectly prepped, and I really like the space. Got here after a nice hike, this burrito was perfect after that workout! The patio was nice with a good view of the mountains. Even though it was busy, the folks working here were incredibly nice

Bomb burrito!

As others have said, there’s one option but it is a good one! Definitely one of the best vegan burritos I’ve ever had! I like that you can choose the size of the burrito and the spice level.

One option, but it's a good one

Breakfast and lunch each have one vegan burrito/bowl option (the Bonasaurus), but it's delicious, loaded with veggies, guacamole, and hashbrowns (breakfast) or rice and beans (lunch). I like to add pineapple to mine. The lunch mushroom tacos could be vegan with a couple substitutions.

Contrary to the listing, the green chile recipe is now vegan, albeit not gluten-free. The menu on the website is not updated to reflect this, but I've confirmed it with the restaurant directly. Beware, however, that the "fuego" level is sometimes really, really hot. Good selection of local beers and cocktails if you're a day drinker. Gets crazy busy on weekends and parking can be limited, please be conscientious of neighborhood residents (I am one.)

Delicious Vegan Burrito!

The Bon-Asaurus is so good! Not too spicy with the pepper but it adds a nice hearty flavor along with the mushrooms. Excellent flavor, hearty, and one of the few dedicated vegan breakfast options in Golden.

FROM THE MENU -

“BON-ASAURUS – Hash browns (yeah, yeah no butter), house-made guacamole, roasted anaheim peppers, sautéed mushrooms, sautéed onions and pico de gallo.”

Pros: One very good vegan option

Cons: Very popular so can have long waits on weekends, Only one option, not multiple

Good not great

They have 1 burrito on the menu that is clearly labeled VEGAN. It is pretty good, my boyfriend LOVED it- I only liked it... fun place but I've ever only gotten it to-go so I can't speak for the service or drinks or anything.

Pros: 1 labeled vegan burrito

Cons: Would love more options

veg-friendly but in an odd way

This place is like a cult classic. The broken-down truck; the dusty, sandy lot; and the barely-shaded long communal tables, all add to the ambiance. People just chill out next to each other waiting 20 minutes or longer for their burrito. The staff are friendly-hipster and everyone is relaxed. It's like Mad Max on weed. (Which, since this is Colorado...)

Is it worth it? Probably. The veggie selections are limited but good. The one major bummer is that their green chile sauce has chicken stock, which I'm glad they mention, but that really robs the burrito of a vital ingredient.

Their popularity is through the roof, so they're moving to a "proper" storefront in Fall 2019. A lot will be gained, but a little bit of character may also be lost. Now, when you've waited over 20 minutes roasting in the sun on a blistering day, "character" can wear a bit thin. It depends, I guess, on how you like your classics: straight up or cult.

Pros: tasty, chilled out, veg-aware

Cons: could be more veg-friendly, ambiance not to everyone's taste, a bit out of center of town
