Vegan options are good, but limited

This restaurant is very cool, but the menu is meat forward. There is vegan pho which was off menu and in a smaller portion for dinner than for lunch apparently. The mushroom side was delicious, but the only non customized vegan item on the menu. Some of the other dishes can sub tofu/mushrooms to make them vegan apparently. Also, a lot of the drinks have honey or butter in them.

Overall, I like this place for the atmosphere and the speakeasy in the basement. The restaurant would be a good place to come in a group with meat eaters, but just for vegans, it needs some more options

Pros: Delicious mushroom side, Vegan pho, Great atmosphere

Cons: Not enough obvious vegan dishes

Trendy Vietnamese in SF

A trendy Vietnamese restaurant with wonderful decor and good pricing? Let's do this!

First, I love the play on its name with Vietnamese words for certain animals. I recognized the 'bo' and the 'ga,' but had no idea what 'de' was until I asked my partner. They told me it meant "goat," which I'm pretty sure isn't being served but props to the name.

We started with a Tofu Spring Roll ($5) and it was literally one fresh roll sliced up into four pieces, haha. The peanut sauce was served on the side and we were provided with a sweet dressing used for their chicken salad (which was vegan) for mine. The spring roll was fine.

Our next dish was their Vietnamese Salad with Tofu ($14) and this was a refreshing blend of veggies that I really enjoyed. The salad was the standout for our meal.

Finally, we got the Dry Hu Tieu (m with the vegan broth on the side ($18). It wasn't the best hu tieu I've ever had and was frankly quite bland, but a bit of needed dressing on the side made it a bit better. I appreciate the attempt at a vegan noodle option here but definitely could use more flavor.

Our server Myles was incredibly nice and funny. Thanks for putting up with our questions and helping us get different sauces to try for our food to add a bit more flavor. This is also my hint that the vegan options can definitely use a tad bit more flavor in the future.

Pros: Options able to be veganized, Trendy atmosphere

Cons: Vegan options were bland
