Amazing - Edit
I love their cheese steak! I try to visit this place any time I'm in the Philly area! Their other sandwiches are really good too. I've had the country fried and Italian hoagie and can definitely recommend them as well.

Root beer BBQ wings or bust - Edit
I've only had 3 vegan cheesesteaks in my life, but theirs was my favorite (by far).
Read moreI thought they were skimping on the cheese (comparing what I got to advertised photos) but there was tons of cheese mixed in with the steak. The steak is also really good, I loved the texture and how crispy and thin the pieces were. Never had seitan prepared like that before.
But their WINGS! Man, they are to die for. We tried the root beer BBQ and habanero buffalo.
The root beer BBQ was beyond amazing. The wings were so crispy, and the sauce was delicious and tangy. Very reminiscent of KFC's spicy BBQ wings (which were my favorite as a kid).
God, I miss those wings. Best vegan wings yet.
The habanero buffalo wings were good too, and packed a good amount of heat (but not as good as those BBQ).
Pros: Vegan, Delicious, Friendly staff

The vegan cheesesteak is sooo good! Best seitan I've had tbh. We got the cheese fries too which were also delightful! Cool atmosphere too.

No more pizza, but great sandwiches! - Edit
The sandwiches are really impressive! The wings were not my favorite, but the sandwiches make the stop worthwhile. Wish they still had pizza.

Pizzeria stopped selling pizza - Edit
Owner opened up a pizza shop 5 miles away called 20th street pizza so this place now only sells wings and stuff, strange if you ask me. They have a tiny menu now with wings, seitan sandwich, fries, etc.

Authentic pizza joint vibes with all vegan options - Edit
Cute little shop with unique vegan options. Pretty small menu of just hoagies, seitan wings, and fries. Hoagie options such as cheesesteaks, cubanos, and italians hit the spot when I’m craving non-veg food.

Went to Blackbird for pizza and wings, and they don't sell pizza anymore (their pizza is at 20th St. Pizza). We still got the wings, and they were delicious!

Meh - Edit
Used to love original Blackbird on South 6th, but never liked the one in Northern Liberties. The pizza at the second location was never good, and they dont even serve pizza anymore. The only sandwich I ever had from there was cheesesteak and it was always super greasy and just not good.

Staple vegan restaurant - Edit
Classic vegan restaurant, great cheesteak. Unfortunately they got rid of their pizza and it's all at their sister restaurant, which isn't as good as the old blackbird pizza

This is the place - Edit
I love all their pizzas, but anything with the tofu ricotta is my favorite.
Read moreTheir seitan wings are one of my favorite foods. The root beer BBQ are the best. I'm not too fond of the other flavors though. They're especially good when you get an extra thin/crispy one. The wings come with this cucumber(I think) dip, which used to be pretty bad, but they changed the recipe at some point, and I love it now.
Great sandwiches, probably the best philly cheesesteak. They used to have this sandwich called "The Ringer" I dont remember what it was. But I remember loving it. They should bring it back.
They once had this sandwich that was fried seitan between a Dottie's donut. It was good, but I think it killed me.
This was the first vegan restaurant I'd been to, the one I've been to the most, and maybe my favorite. I really miss the south philly location, as I have a lot of fond memories there. Their new place is nice, though. I like the out-door seating on the side.
Pros: Great food, Great everything
Cons: Maybe a little too oily

Overrated, go to &pizza - Edit
I've eaten a lot of pizza around the city, and by bars Blackbird is my least favorite. I would honestly even recommend Brubon and Branch pizza which is up the block, which is way better! I've stepped their door a couple times and I decided to stop going. I always felt disappointed everything I left on top of the unfriendly service they have. They pick and choose who they want to treat nice. Source: Observing. There's better places to buy pizza, don't come here!

Incredible - Edit
I can not believe the pizza i just ate was 100% plant based. Growing up in Philly and being a vegan is hard when the cheesesteak is a staple. My mind is blown. Make sure you order early. Ours was made right on time. Happy International Vegans day! PS the wings live up to the habanero name :)

The pizza was delicious and offered by the slice which was convenient. The buffalo habanero wings were yummy and extremely hot. The country fried sandwich was incredible! It was super crispy, flavorful, and the texture was perfect. Definitely don’t miss out on their house made seitan!!

maybe an off night? - Edit
I usually love Blackbird, and used to frequent the location just off South Street. But last time I went to the 2nd street location, the pizza (BBQ chick'n and Chzsteak styles) was good, but the wings were inedible...they were so hard, and it was like they were all breading? Not a good texture at all. It was disappointing because I liked them in the past but we ended up just throwing them out after trying to power through a couple.

Every time I travel back to the East Coast we stop at Blackbird. Haymaker with no onions and added mushrooms is my goto. Been eating at Blackbird or Mom’s before it for 20 years.
