Rice cakes when traveling - Edit
Bizeun is a chain specializing in Korean rice cakes (tteok 떡), but also offering a couple of other traditional desserts plus coffee and tea. Their rice cakes are pretty, colorful and a good standard in Korea.
Read moreMost of their rice cakes are vegan by default. Some of the modern versions, however, may contain dairy, egg or honey. (Watch out for flavors with e.g. blueberries and chocolate, as well as rice balls coated in cake crumbs!) Since the allergens are not labelled here, it is best to ask at the counter to confirm your order.
Staff is friendly and will check allergens upon request. Prices are a bit higher than regular rice cake shops, but quality is much better. And compared to bakery items, tteok is much cheaper anyways!
The cafe is located on the 3rd floor inside Seoul Station, the main train station of the city. You can find it right next to the elevators, close to the food court. It's a busy place, with many customers going in and out in short intervals. Accordingly, the atmosphere is rushed and noisy.
There are hardly any vegan options inside the train station, so this is my stop when I need food while traveling or seeing someone off.
