The Tofu Stew was very disappointing - Edit
We had the Moqueca de Tofu served with rice and salad. It was very plain, almost tasteless. I can't say anything about the other dishes. But 9,00€ for a lunch plate is also not super cheap in comparison with other vegan restaurants in the neighborhood.

Very consistente - Edit
Nice restaurant, with veryy consistent food, if you go there today or if you went 5 years ago the food tastes the same. Always 4 or 5 options always with integral rice and the same cabbage salad which is very nice.

Cons: The staff is not that friendly, not all options are vegan, always the same dishes

Good food – but no foreign cards! - Edit
Most important caveat first: THEY ONLY TAKE PORTUGUESE CARDS!
Read moreTo someone like me, who travels cashless as much as possible, this was a bit of an unexpected setback. Had to go out looking for an ATM to pay my bill. Using a provider that allows payments from international cards should really be a no-brainer in 2019.
Now, the food:
The concept is quite simple. There are about five dishes daily, noted on a menu on the wall. You choose between a small plate, a small mixed plate (two dishes), a regular plate, and a regular mixed plate (presumably also two or perhaps three dishes – I didn’t ask). The food is presumably continuously made; I got mine in less than five minutes.
Prices are definitely on the cheap side. Just under €6 for a small plate, €6.95 for a small mixed plate, €8.10 (I think) for a regular plate, and around €9 for a regular mixed plate.
I had the small mixed plate, with spinach lasagne and tofu stew. Both were very good (the lasagne had a different flavour from traditional lasagne, but it was delicious). Plate comes with some greens on the side as well.
The small plate was perfectly adequate as a regular meal – a normal-sized plate with a normal-sized good serving. If you’re *really* hungry, go for a regular plate, otherwise I’d say just go for a small.
Had the home-made iced tea (€1.60), which was amazing. Don’t know what kind of tea it was (hibiscus, perhaps?), but it was intensely red and very good.
The staff were helpful enough, but not exactly ebulliently friendly. The place was full, but not to the point where it would appear to be stressful to the staff.
There were no non-vegetarian dishes available on the day I went; I don’t know how often they do fish dishes as some other reviews have said. Vegan dishes weren’t marked as such either; I’m assuming the dishes weren’t all vegan (at least the lasagne I had tasted like it was made with dairy products).
The food to price ratio is worth five stars (which means four, because the restaurant is listed as not fully veg*n), but the somewhat lacklustre staff and the lack of international payment cards pulls me one down, to three.
Pros: Tasty food, Big portions, Quick service
Cons: Staff a bit on the cool side, No card payment with international cards

Great food & price - Edit
I had a great meal just now. 8.10€ for seitan with Thai sauce, two types of green salad and brown rice. Big portions. The plates range from 6.95 to 8.95. They had their menu of the day clearly posted outside, which the two nearby fully vegetarian places did not. I didn't see any meat or fish items on the menu.

Good for a late dinner - Edit
The food is okay, sometimes the flavor is a bit too strong for me. If you're vegan you have to specify and ask which are the vegan options on the menu. You can mix different dishes in a small or big plate. Inexpensive and open late.

not really vegetarian - Edit
The day I was there (June 7th 2018), the first item on the menu was codfish. I asked the two guys working there if that was really fish (with a smile, mind you, I thought it could be like seitan fish or whatever), they said yes, then I asked "isn't this a vegetarian restaurant?", one just stared at me blankly while the other replied rather rudely "it's just one dish". Anyway: food was great, but this is not a vegetarian restaurant (and staff could be nicer).

Best vegetarian/ vegan restaurant in Lisbon, in my humble opinion - Edit
The food is always great no matter what you ask for! The salad is always on point and goes amazingly together with the food. The plate sizes are amazing because you’re able to get the amount of food you want and more than 1 option:
Read moreSMALL PLATE: 1 options;
SMALL MIXED PLATE: 2 options;
BIG PLATE: 1/2 options;
MIXED BIG PLATE: 3 options.
The space is a bit small, but the food makes it for it 100%. Take away is also great and the cakes/ sweets are AMAZINGLY done!
My favorite dish by far is the Seitan Stroganoff, usually served on Saturdays since the menu alters everyday. Only change would be to remove the coriander from the “wet” salad.
The staff is always helpful and friendly, while prices remain very reasonable. Totally recommend the biologic juice! Always delicious!
Whenever I can take someone to a restaurant in Lisbon I always choose this one.
Pros: Heavenly made food. , Fairly priced., Not only does it serve lunch but also cakes and sn
Cons: A bit tight

Huge portions - Edit
Ok for vegetarians, not sure about vegans, as most of the food is pre-made. Very popular restaurant. Prices are good for what you get, plates ranging from €5-€7. They had about 6 different options for the day but we were told different things were available by different waiters. One spoke a bit of English. We got the vegan meatballs and seitan. Large plate came with salad and couscous.

I recommend it.

Better for Veggies, not Vegans - Edit
The good things about Bio is that they served us food very quickly and were helpful when telling me which options were vegan (as they're not pointed out on the menu) and they were very affordable. Unfortunately, the food was kind of bland, but for the price, we were not expecting anything outstanding anyway.
Read moreThey could improve by having more vegan options, as the vegetarian options could have easily been made vegan with a couple of adjustments but I don't think that is possible because I think everything is already prepared.
Pros: helpful staff, quick service, inexpensive
Cons: bland food, needs more vegan options

Great food - Edit
This restaurant has one of the greatest price-quality relationships in Lisbon. Super affordable, the food is really well cooked and it has around six different dish options every day - with two or three of them being vegan. The side dishes, salad and brown rice, are always the same and always delicious. I don't recommend the desserts, but I do recommend their homemade juices.

The best quality/price in Lisbon - Edit
Since I've discovered this little gem, I always go there when I'm in Lisbon and need a veggie meal.
Read moreIt's a tiny place and sometimes we need to wait a lot to get a place, but I avoid that by being there at noon whenever I can and eat before everyone else starts arriving.
The food is delicious and the mini dish is more than enough to make one full. Their cakes are just divine, although they are not vegan. Sometimes I open an exception to my non-dairy diet when I eat there, their cakes are just too good...
I wish they had more vegan recipes and that's my only complaint.
Pros: delicious, quick to serve, cheap
Cons: small place, lot of dairy on their recipes

Happy in the rain - Edit
Popped here for a quick lunch on one of those strange intensely sunny and yet rainy September Lisbon afternoons to find a friendly place offering a nice selection of filling meals. Plenty of outdoor seating with room for around 24 tightly packed diners inside. They have around 5 available main dishes of which at least 2 are, or can be vegan. They may also have additional dishes not specified on the menu which can also be served if requested. You can pick one main meal or a combination of 2 or 3 smaller portions served with a salad ranging in price from €5 to €7.50 for the 3 dish combo. Today we had the lasagne and aubergine stuffed with mushrooms (which can be vegan without the yoghurt topping) on plate 1. On plate 2 shredded carrot and tofu and soya meatballs (which can also be vegan if served without the sauce). All four were of a good standard and very filling. To finish I tried the apple and summer fruit crumble which really was very appetising indeed. Sparkling water to rehydrate and an espresso to finish off made this a most enjoyable lunch. I would not perhaps choose Bio as an evening dining venue but that's only because In Lisbon there are many glorious vegetarian dining experiences to be had closer to the city centre.

Cons: small, quite basic inside
