Centrally located market in downtown that offers selections in fresh fruits and vegetables, deli foods, juices, vitamins, and more. Next door to Le Bar. Reported closed July 2021.
All the essentials in one place along with some more luxury items.
Some things can get pricey though, especially the produce section which is kind of lacking.
This centrally located store has a great variety of vegan kitchen essentials, such as cheeses, spreads, sausages, canned food and desserts. It even has some products that are still rare finds in Budapest (ie. vegan mayo, vegan yoghurts, tempeh).
Offers bulk lentils, rice, etc., and also bio fresh fruits and vegetables.
They offer a little selection of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as a lot of other products like vegan cheese (violife), tofu, tempeh, spreads etc. Huge bins with dry products (nuts, lentils, grains) which can be bought by weight.
The best shop in Budapest to stock up on vegan stuff I guess - some items are very cheap, some not so. It's very very small so beware .... will get crowded easily. What I absolutely don't like (it's been the same 2 years ago) is how the employees constantly watch every step you take and stare at you like you're a thief, this behaviour stresses me out a lot and makes me want to leave the shop without buying anything. Usually I love browsing health food shops but at Bio ABC it's usually not possible😒 but anyway, you should still visit this shop and buy as much of the vegan cheese and meat as you can😉
This shop has got a fine selection of vegan snacks, cheese, sasuages, ice cream etc. Theres also lots of body products, shampoos, oils and stuff like that.
Notice that not all of the things in the shop is vegan.
Although not very large in size, which was slightly annoying as it was always busy; this shop is amazing! Has a massive range of vegan products, fresh, frozen, packaged. They had vegan ice cream and cheese!! The staff there the times that I was, were friendly and helpful :) Some things were a good price, some were a little expensive, but you get that anywhere! I treated myself to a vegan 'Magnum' equivalent ice cream, and it was so good! Gutted you can't get them in the UK. Will be sad to not have this shop up the road from me when I return home.
Really hard place to judge. There's such a large amount of great food to find here, the prices are great. BUT the staff seems completely uninterested in what they are selling, the become almost agitated when you ask what's vegan and not and they have really low english skills. Plus that they treat almost every customer like a criminal, following you around the store staring like your are a common thief. Shame. Hopefully the will one day hire staff that's as good as their wares.
A bio shop with a big assortment. We found a lot of stuff we've never seen in Switzerland like oat syrup or hemp flour.
Unfortunately they also sell meat which is kind of inconvenient if everything is written in Hungarian.
They also have raw crackers, desserts and vegan foods like fried cheese but we recommend going to Le Bar right next door as it wasn't very special.

Bio ABC is very well stocked with vegan and organic items. Of particular interest to travelers are numerous local pastries, desserts, and such, though if you don't speak Hungarian vegans might need to ask someone to help translate the ingredient lists to be sure which items are vegan.
Note that they make their own grain-based "meats," but they also sell animal meat, so shop carefully!
Had a nice choice of health foods. We seemed to find everything we needed. A lot of the ingredients were listed in Hungarian, although one of the assitance spoke a little English and was able to help, even getting out a huge dictionary to find a word that she didn't know.
One of the other assistants wasn't particularly friendly (although that often seemed to be the norm in Hungary, so I am not surprised).
The store is located next door to the vegan cafe, Le Bar. There seemed to be the usual assortment of packaged foods one finds in health food shops together with some organic veg. They also sell various cakes. The assistant spoke a little English and we showed her the "Vegan Passport" explaining what we done't eat and she confirmed that a number of the cakes were suitable for vegans.
Not sure whether the food in the chiller section was all vegetarian as not able to translate the labels.
