‘Shakshuka’ and ‘Classic Morning’ with Yo Eggs - Mind blown!

Okay so there’s not a huge vegan choice and yeah, if I asked there may be more choices than what’s on the menu. But if you’re going for a bite to eat late on why eat anything other than what they’re famous for - the Shakshuka

Served in a wide dish, with an assortment of vegan breads, a side salad, a spicy dip and cooling dip, it was really really good. The Shakshuka is a rich, thick tomato and red pepper sauce that sticks to the bread. The real surprise are the vegan Yo Eggs. It’s been 18 months since I had a real egg do I can recall the real taste, and they don’t get better than this. Breaking the faux yolk it ran, looked and tasted like real yolk. The white had the same texture too although it was possible tell that wasn’t the real thing when cutting it. That said, because it’s in a thick sauce, a non-vegan wouldn’t have known the eggs were not real eggs. The breads were warm and needless to say, the plate was spotlessly clean at the end.
I then sat with the side salad with their pickles a beer and the dips and snacked for an hour. The Lucy one was made with coriander and went well with the cucumber. The cooling dip wax super with the pickes and tomato. All in all that dish gets 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from me.

I couldn’t end it without mentioning the amazing barista, come juicer, come waiter, coke cleaner, come bar tender who ran the place with precision. Despite being really busy, he was all over it and took to time to perfect everything cleaning as he went. His name is ‘Noam’ and I can now see why folk return. A great place, great food, great drinks with great staff.

We’ll done ✅

Update …

So we went back for the ‘Classic Morning.’ It was amazing. The Yo Eggs taste ‘exactly’ like real eggs, the roasted cauliflower was charred and well paired with tahini. The roasted tomatoes with smoked cheese had a sweetness with a real depth of smoky flavour, just like the baba ganoush. The side salad mixed with the skordilia, hummus and eaten in the warm bread finished it off nicely. What a delight. Just look at the photo.

Recently added excellent options!

I will say that two years ago I would have never said this place had great vegan options because they certainly did not but over the last year or so they partnered with a company in Israel called Yo Egg to serve their sunny side up eggs and have started serving excellent vegan options. Some of the options aren’t noted in the English menu so please ask when you’re there but they do serve the yo egg as a breakfast option on shakshuka and sunny side up. Be sure to ask which of the breads in the bread basket are vegan because not all are. The Herzliya location is usually the location with the longest wait so if you’re looking to just try them out and can visit a different location, do that because they all have the same food.

Don't recommend

I don't know who said they had vegan options, but there was only one vegan option besides for bland salads, the vegan breakfast. The tofu scramble was pretty good but it was insanely oily and it was served with tasteless green beans. It said it came with a basket of vegan bread, but they gave us bread made with butter and didn't even tell us until we asked. I wouldn't go again.

Cons: Expensive , Oily , Not considerate to vegans
