This traditional shop sells iced vegan desserts. Different flavors have slightly different texture, for example, the peanut flavor is like crumbly shaved ice while taro flavor is more creamy and starchy. Most of the flavors are TW$50, and you can pick 1-2 flavors in the bowl (except the specialty/signature flavors which you can only pick one).
Ask for the English menu if you need one.
The decor is simple and old school with folding tables and fans.
After you finish your dessert, head outside to the right where you can find a sink to wash the bowl and the spoon. Then put them in the corresponding places for recycling.
You can get a combination of 2 flavors for 50 TWD (only Large size cup). They also have a small cup but you can choose only 1 flavor. The texture is similar to gelato. It's quite thick but not heavy like normal ice cream. The taste is really natural and not too sweet.
Location: near to Zhongxiao Dunhua station exit 3 (Blue line)
This place is an absolute gem hidden in a fairly quiet street with minimal signs or advertising. I walked straight past it the first time as I presumed it was a garage or something.
However, here you will find locals and for very good reason.
They sell delicious handmade vegan ice cream in huge portions that will send you in to a state of bliss and brain freeze at the same time.
I had a mixed cup of Taro and Peanut flavor it was one of the best vegan ice creams I've ever had. What the ice cream lacks in consistency it makes up for in taste!
The prices are very cheap and servings are huge, you are also encouraged to wash your cup and spoon in the sink outside afterwards, how cute.
I got half peanut and half pineapple. Really big portion for $50. The peanut is really thick and creamy while the pineapple is more of a slushy ice texture. Both tasted amazing. The owner is lovely and was explaining how each one was made and the different flavours (in Chinese but an English menu is available)
For 50 NTD for a big cup, I couldn’t ask for more. I got the Taro and Peanut flavor (I liked the taro more but the combo worked well). I think the Taro was more creamy than the peanut but overall I really enjoyed the icy flavors. I would come back again!
I haven't had vegan ice cream in a while and was so excited when I learned that this place exists! BeiMen Feng LiBing is a super local ice cream shop (unlike lots of other vegan ice cream parlors who act all fancy ..) and offers a great selection of local flavors.
The ice cream has a very subtle sweetness to it which I really liked.
- TARO: Super creamy, wonderful flavor
- PEANUT: Less creamy, more crunchy not particularly sweet
They came in a paper cup and I ended up paying 50 TND for it.
I LOVED both of the flavors and if you are into peanuts then I highly recommend giving the peanut on a try!
If you are into ice cream that's got a subtle sweetness to it then I highly recommend it! I love that they are playing around with local ingredients! :)
I had the pineapple and taro sorbets, both were anazing! Place was packed, every seat full, seemed like a local hangout. Passed it the first time walking by, it's next to the organic store
Easy to find traditional sorbet store. Really cheap, one/two flavours cost only 50ntd and the portion is huge. I tried peanut, taro and bean paste taste and liked all of them. They have English menu there but not everyone there can speak English. You can just easily point on the menu.
