Changing set menu of three options. When we went there was one vegan option for main - lentil, aubergine and coconut curry, which was lovely. For dessert there was mixed fresh & dried fruit tag one in a spiced sauce - delicious mix of flavours. Taken over by couple from Paris three months ago, we’re very helpful despite my lack of French language knowledge.
Traveling in the french auvergne region, we decided to visit an amazing cathedral perched atop a volcanic rock in a town/city called Le-Puy-en-Velay. Little did we realize what a gem this small city really is. I contacted Beaux Thés du Monde after finding their restaurant on the internet. They readily do vegetarian food but vegan is assured if you can give them 24 hours advanced notice. by email, which I did. Trust me, it’s worth it to take a few minutes to do this. They do speak enough english, if that’s your language, to understand you and to describe to you. I was rewarded by among other items, an amazing velouté of squash (soup) and a tiny pumpkin stuffed w/ what I discoverd were the specialities of the region: cepes (fragrant mushrooms) and green (french) lentils. So delicious. They had prepared a dessert for me too but I had no room to eat it!
I had a few minutes to chat with the owners/chefs and to thank them. As I looked at the sign on the restaurant, I realized that the name of the restaurant is a “jeu de mot” or play on words.
The name of the restaurant means both beautiful teas of the world and beauties (beautifulness) of the world. Discovering this gem of a little café was exactly that...beautiful-ness in this world
