Sanctuary that rehabilitates severely abused bears in the hope of one day releasing them into the wild. There's a dining service that offers a broad range off Vietnamese food. Almost all items are vegan apart from a dish with egg. Visiting the bear sanctuary is optional. Open Mon-Sun 9:00am-5:00pm.

Good to support the sanctuary - Edit
Like others have said, the food is good but not at the same quality as Vegan restaurants in Ninh Binh. Having said that, the sweet sesame pancake was rather nice. It is not a pancake in the traditional sense, but more of a sesame filled pastry.
Read moreOne criticism is that vegan items are not clearly marked and it was hard to know what was truely vegan.
Given that proceeds from the restaurant support the Bear sanctuary, I’d still recommend getting a bite to eat here.

Great food - Edit
We found this sanctuary on the road to Cuc Phuong.
Read moreThe food is great, and the price/quantity was really good, we had a banh mi, fried rice and spring roll for two is quite enough, almost too much for small eater

Good food, money supports an important cause - Edit
Great to know that the money goes to support a very important cause: the rescue and care of bears from bile and paw farming. You could eat here for that reason alone but the bonus is you actually can eat some very decent food at the same time.
Read moreWe enjoyed the spring rolls, vegetarian sausage (I asked and was assured these were actually vegan), lotus seed soup and the rice set (which included a small bowl of soup, rice, spring roll, glass noodles and salad) at very reasonable prices.
The food came out quickly and was nicely presented. We thought it was pretty delicious, too.

Bear Sanctuary is great, food is ok - Edit
I had the Lotus Soup with mushrooms and pumpkin. Tasty but not very intense and tbh I am still hungry. Better order some starters next time. Fresh water is for free. Not everything is vegan, so no icecream and vietnamese coffee if you are vegan. But as you are not coming for the food, but for the bears, its a good addition.

Sanctuary was great, food ok - Edit
We had the lotus soup. It was just broth an vegetables. I think the healthiest thing, I‘ve eaten in Vietnam. All fresh. So like some other said: come for the sanctuary, not the food 🙂

Sanctuary 5/5, food 3/5 - Edit
The tours don’t run that often (book in advance online to find out) and so we ended up just paying for the skywalk which was great as you could see over many of the enclosures and see lots of the bears interacting with each other, sleeping or walking about and there was information to educate along the way. The food was mediocre but what you expect from these kinds of places- fast food. Don’t come for the food but know you’ve got options if you get hungry

Yummy veggie food! - Edit
Such a surpise to find this place! We had the rice dish which was yum and vegan sausages, which were interesting. We also had the seasame cake which was delicious (despite being served with ketchup which was weird because it was sweet) it is big! Definitely for sharing

Have delicious vegan food and support a good cause! - Edit
I spent an afternoon at the bistro of Bear Sanctuary Ninh Binh and had great fried noodles. They are offering vegetarian and vegan food only, because the sanctuary belongs to the global animal welfare organisation Four Paws. Therefore the staff is very familiar with what vegetarian and vegan means and offers you the right meals.
Read moreThe food is fresh, staff is very friendly and you can possibly visit the bistro without visiting the sanctuary itself. However, I very much suggest to visit the bear sanctuary run by the organisation to give a species-appropriate home to former bile bears. They are doing an amazing job rescuing these animals and rehabilitating them after their traumatic experiences.
All money spent at the sanctuary is being used to support the bears and rescue even more in the future.

Whole Hearted - Edit
This sanctuary is amazing. Admission is free but we paid for a guided tour as it goes towards the rescue bears. Food was delicious and they were very aware of vegan food making sure not to give us egg or mayonnaise. We had the sausage, salad and spring roll.

The sanctuary rescues bears from the bile industry in Vietnam. Go to help the bears and eat some tasty vegan food while you are there

Educational and delicious! - Edit
This place serves delicious vietnamese food, prices are really cheap (1.5usd). Portions are big. Look at the menu picture for more info.
Read moreWhat makes this place shine is the sanctuary. The bears come from places of unbelievable cruelty. Here they take care of rescued bears, they learn them how to live and enjoy life again. Give them fighting change. Bears are given a vegan diet. (No meat only vegetables). The guide will show you their facilities(like the bear food kitchen and the stuff they use to train bears) and tell you about each individual for 125k dong.
The place is really special, if you go please behave.
Pros: Delicious food, Sanctuary for severaly abused bears, Very lovely qnd knowledgable people.
Cons: Pretty far from ninh binh but worth it.
