Really great store with a wide selection. I picked up some tofu, faux meats, soy yogurt, and snacks for my accommodation, which was helpful. Though, I did find other places with more interesting vegan products.

Located a few blocks from my hotel, this place was my go-to for my self catering needs while in Munich. My picnic items included fresh bread, assorted jarred spreads, organic fruit, and vegan pastries from the bakery. Also stopped by on my last day for snacks for my flight, as well as souvenirs in the way of a dozen vegan chocolate bars not available back home.

Great place to buy vegan products unavailable in other supermarkets, but the prices are quite high. Vegan products are all clearly marked, which helps a lot. They also have vegan premade dishes.

I really love this place! Downstairs it is an organic supermarket and on the upper level you can find organic cosmetics, clothing and other organic stuff. Next to that there's a small vegan restaurant (self-service) with amazing healthy food.

Perfect place to load up on travel supplies or have a quick bite while walking around the city center. Vegan products galore. The bakery has many vegan baked goods as well. All clearly labeled. In regard to a comment below saying foreign cards might not work, I had no problem using mine.

On the ground floor there's a small cafe serving drinks and pastries, of which many are vegan-labeled. Plant-based milk is also available for the hot drinks.
Read moreI had a muffin and a matcha latte. They were both good; but not spectacular. Having said that, there were all organic and inexpensive, so that's a plus.
The store is rather larger, and carries also a lot of vegan stuff, basically everything you need on a daily basis. So it's a great place to stock up on your groceries.
Please note that foreign credit cards might not work, so be sure you have some cash just in case.
Pros: variety of vegan stuff, fresh vegan pastries, all organic

the buffet bars here had a good variety but not much flavour. what i assumed to be a hot selection was not in fact hot food, just cooked and left. there are sandwiches and cakes available downstairs in the supermarket too.

All the food is organic. They have also a good salad buffet, but this is a bit more expensive.
They also serve fish and meat, so if you are a group of people and not everyone is a veggie, the meat-eating people will also be happy.

This can only receive two stars since it is rather bland food and in contrast to all the amazing vegan food that is available, it does not shine at all. In addition, when we asked down in the bakery counter what was vegan, the person behind the counter was dismissive and unfriendly. It is an okay place to eat if you need something and nothing else is open or available. The servers upstairs in the cafeteria area were friendly and helpful.

I have been to many, many bio supermarkets and markets worldwide (that includes chains like Whole Foods and Planet Organic) and Basic Bio is one of my favourites! I think this is partially due to the high quality foods produced by German companies which are dedicated to making outstanding products (many of which are exported to all other countries in Europe as far as the UK). There are a range of bread products including a huge selection of rice cakes/puffed grains and in-house bakery. There are breakfast cereals (which are not loaded with sugars and other not-so-healthy additives that you find in some 'organic' brands in other countries). For vegans especially, they have fridges full of soya and grain-based yogurts and milks, lots of vegan spreads (a whole aisle) and antipasti, salads, and other prepared foods. They have a huge beverages, alcohol and sweet/chocolate sections, if that is of interest. Furthermore, they carry a great deal of Ayurvedic and macrobiotic specialities, as this is currently quite popular in Germany. I also love the whole wall of different, high-quality teas! The fresh produce, which includes a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, is also good.

Big Organic Supermaket - Edit
Basic Bio Bistro is an organic cafeteria in the second floor of the Basic Supermarket. It has two salad/anti-pasta bars and usually a selection of 4 dishes: two vegetarian, two with meat/fish and a selection of 3 grains to go with that. The salad bar is good (but not excellent) and the dishes are all very yummy. The salad bar is weighed (expensive) but the dishes are fixed price (affordable). I like the food quality a lot as it is all organic and tastes good.
