Delicious ! - Edit
Really delicious, flavourful food. Lots of diverse vegan Mediterranean dishes. Wait staff are very helpful and the restaurant is very cute and out of the sun.

Delicious burger - Edit
it’s a nice place in a backyard. pretty calm. there’s a bar right next to it for a drink after. we had the burger and sweet potatoe fries. it was very delicious ngl but it’s soooo expensive. 15€ for a burger? you have to order fries as a side dish they’re not included and it’s 6€ extra. I mean it’s a tourist place and a big city… but that’s crazy. would eat here again probably because there’s not much vegan opportunities around.

Really good tofu and beet tartar - Edit
We stopped for dinner at Barakokula. The restaurant is not straight forward to find, there isn’t an obvious sign outside, you only see it once you have located the correct courtyard, so it’s easy to walk past. We tried the beet tartar as a starter, for mains we had the sexy tofu and the risotto. The beet tartar was yummy, the bottom layer was a sort of cracker topped by a creamy avocado layer, then the beet layer, and topped with beluga lentils and salty cheeze. The sexy tofu was also really good. Asian inspired coated tofu on a bed of sweet potato mash. Unfortunately the black rice risotto was less of a win. It was rather uninteresting, on the bland side, slightly earthy with a hint of balsamic vinegar. We wouldn’t order it again. All in all, a decent restaurant. Not offensive, but not all the dishes are equally impressive either.

Nice vegan option - Edit
The food here was good. We had the burrata, the sexy tofu and the beetroot tartare. The burrata was excellent, the beetroot tartare needed a bit more bread and the sexy tofu feels a little bit incomplete - we had it with fries which I think was a good choice. It was all tasty. If I went back again I’d probably immediately have the burrata. Great to have a fully vegan option and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Fancy & delicious - Edit
Barakokula is a very fancy and exclusive vegan restaurant. The whole menu is plant based and the staff was very friendly. The prices are on the expensive side, which makes sense as the meals are top tier and presented so beautifully. They also serve lemonades, sodas, beer, aperitifs, cocktails, coffees. They offer brunch, main dishes, treats, side dishes, and more. If you want to treat yourself with something fancy, Barakokula is the place!

Lunch stop in Split - Edit
We stopped here on our drive from Dubrovnik to Primosten. We’re not staying in Split on this trip, but it was fun to walk through this beautiful old city and try this restaurant. I ordered the Sexy Tofu, and others in our group ordered the Caesar salad and the gnocchi. I wish I could say the food was amazing, but alas not. Also, a pretty big con is the fact that after we sat down, a bunch of restaurant workers went on break together and sat down at a table right next to us to smoke. Overwhelming odor. Maybe not abnormal in Europe? But kind of disappointing, at a vegan place no less.

Nice little restaurant in the heart of Split - Edit
Barakokula has been on my list for a while now, and I finally visited the restaurant today. Everything they offer is plant based. I had the Yin Yang sweet potatoes, and I couldn’t have been happier with my choice. They very really tasty! The waiter even joked about how I basically cleaned my plate 😂

A lovely lunch - Edit
Excellent location, very near the main sights. It took me a couple of attempts to find it as it’s up a little alleyway off the street but it was well worth it. The choice was great, they offer salads, breakfasts, main courses, etc. I had the burger, absolutely delicious and a good-sized portion, and the house cocktail, what a treat! The coleslaw was beautiful, I think it had fresh apple in it. The young waiter spoke excellent English but was very patient with my hesitant Croatian. Please do try this if you’re in Split, I would highly recommend.

More than your typical vegan place - Edit
Everything on the menu is plant based and they offer more than your typical vegan place that has usually salads and burgers.
Read moreThey make 4 different types of vegan cheese and it is truly delicious. Tomato chutney, crackers and dates filled with creamy vegan cheese come as well in the Tapas 42 starter dish.
We also had the Sexy Tofu and it was very delicious. It comes with sweet potatoe puree and some greens.
Their home-made lemonades were also super tasty and the staff was so friendly and helpful. It is truly a great place to visit if you like to try delicious plant-based food.

Vegan Fine Dining - Edit
Amazing vegan restaurant. We had two starters: tapas 42 (photo) and mamma mia buratta. I cannot describe how unbelievably good they were...almost impossible to believe they were vegan. For the main dish we had sexy tofu (photo) and black risotto, which were super tasty, but didn't beat the starters! The restaurant is on the expensive side, but totally justified by the products and service. Highly recommend for a fancy experience.

Wir konnten auch zur späten Stunde noch was veganes Essen. Junge, freundliche Bedienung. Das Lokal ist zwar nicht sehr ansprechend, dennoch eine gute Auswahl an Gerichten.
