Hidden gem in Amarante - Edit
They do lunches and cafeteria, the food looks so yummy. The space outside is amazing, looking out to the river. Unfortunately they don't have vegan ham or cheese. But they have plant based milks.

Great staff and great food - Edit
Located right above the river, with a large patio. Very friendly staff. Great food. €6 for daily special. Had stuffed mushrooms with rice on the side, and broccoli soup. Recommended.

De no ser por Happy cow, no lo habría encontrado, está dentro de la casa cultural de la juventud. Pedimos 3 menús del día con sopa. Pagamos 21 euros. El personal muy agradable y el servicio rápido.

Com vista para o rio Tâmega, no Bar do Girassol (no interior da Casa da Juventude) conseguimos ter uma refeição equilibrada e saborosa ovo láctea vegetariana/vegana. O prato do dia era hamburguer de quinoa, mas pedi para retirar o queijo e ficou um prato totalmente vegan. O sumo de laranja é muito bom e servido numa quantidade bem grande. É sem dúvida o melhor sítio para almoçar em Amarante. Preço justo, refeição equilibrada e com produtos locais.

Attentive staff and very affordable - Edit
The bistro offers vegetarian food (not necessarily vegan) with a very affordable menu. We ate soup with a few pieces of very good bread (likely homemade but we forgot to ask) and the daily main course (luckily vegan on that day). There were no vegan desserts so we ate a slice of very tasty watermelon.

A really pleasant and friendly restaurant, part community enterprise, with a very short menu that changes every day. Delicious, simple food served by friendly staff, and exceptionally good value (an excellent cup of coffee was 75cents). We are going back tomorrow -what more of a recommendation could there be than that.
