Great food, beautiful beach location - Edit
** The name of the restaurant is actually ‘Taste’, which is attached to Bale Sampan hotel.**
Read moreWas a bit hesitant as nobody else was in the restaurant when we arrived (especially as so many other places were rammed) but was very pleasantly surprised.
Seating out the front on the beach overlooking the sea was really relaxing. Staff were kind and attentive. Plus they had a ‘buy two get one free’ offer on cocktails, which were well made.
I had the veggie burger (with cheese omitted, to hopefully make it vegan) and gf had the green lasagna (which had cheese in so was veggie rather than vegan). Both dishes were excellent. Well presented, good quality ingredients, and tasted great.
We’ll be going back.

Not much on the menu - Edit
Not sure if they have a new menu but the vegan options were almost non existent. We went elsewhere.

Lovely cake - Edit
We tried 3 of the vegan cakes and all of them were amazing, based on western famous chocolate bars like Mars, Snickers etc!

Great tasty food! - Edit
On the main street, this cafe has a few vegan items and they are very tasty. I ordered the veggie wrap and it was super fresh. Would recommend.

Good food in an island of limited choices - Edit
There are three veggie restaurants in Trawangan, but otherwise vegan options are not that good in Gili T. Actually Gili Meno and Gili Air have better options in ordinary beach restaurants, because they usually have indonesian food on their list. I suppose that in Gili T the beach restaurants have got the wrong idea about what tourists want to eat.
Read moreBale Sampan has some of the great indonesian vegetarian food and some more. It´s not open in the evening, so it´s better for breakfast and lunch. I tasted there:
- gado-gado
- vege curry
- baguettes with bean croquettes and tofu
- fried rice = nasi goreng
- fried noodles = mie goreng
- shakes and juices
They also had urap-urap on their menu. They did not have soymilk for coffee. I didn´t like their bean croguettes plain, but they were good inside a baguette with avocado.
I addition to Balé Sampan, I liked Banyan Tree, Ikan ja Kafe Kecil. Unfortunately I didn´t visit The Yoga Place or vegan restaurant Pituq.
Pros: They don´t have touts harassing you, Nice to get baguettes, The place looks nicer than most restaurants there
