yummy breads but expensive to sit

the bread selection was huge with a few vegetarian and vegan options (vegan rather sweet). they tasted okay and the bread itself is priced ok.
but the shop itself has a weird concept as you can buy your bread downstairs, the café is on the second floor with a few tables and on the third floor is the café/bistro section where you can properly sit. but on third floor they have the rule that you have to drink 1 drink pp. drinks start at 1400¥ - weird and expensive concept.

Ganz okay

Good vegan bread

They have 2-3 vegan breads depending on the moment of the day. It is in a very touristy area so go early of you want all options. Good flavor and texture.

Vegan breads, plant milk

They do label allergens for all baked goods. There are a few vegan breads as well as sweet bread rolls. We just brought our own peanut butter as there weren't any vegan spreads etc. available. There is a Café on the upper floor where you can eat the baked goods from the bakery. In the Café they offer plant milk coffee.

Very limited vegan options in 3F restaurant , good views of lake

The restaurant had only a couple of vegan side dishes , no protein , just a side salad and fried sweet potatoes which were tasty but selection could be improved

Pros: Great views , Lovely staff

Cons: Limited vegan options

Great location, tasty bread and drinks

On the first floor, the bakery, there are some vegan bread options and they are all super tasty. If the weather is good you can enjoy your bread while soaking your feet in the foot bath.
On the second floor, the cafe, there are a couple of veganizable drinks (matcha latte, Hojo ha latte etc). They don’t charge for plant milk substitution. On the third floor, the restaurant, there are only 2 vegan options: the salad (if you order it without dressing) and the sweet potato.
The view of the lake is amazing and the cafe’s atmosphere is chill, I hope they will put more vegan options in the future.

Good to finally have some bread

Coming from a country where bread is vegan by default, this was lovely to finally eat some bakery bread on our trip. There were 4 options on the day we went and we tried all 4. Nothing out of the ordinary, just good quality bread. The fruit loaf was great. There is an added bonus in that out the front is a foot bath where you can sit and put your feet in nice warm water - perfect on a cold day.

Only con is that they package all items individually in plastic bags which was such a waste when simply eating them there and then.

Gimmie carbs!!!

Similar to pompadour, you get a tray and tongs. The vegan bread we found was the flower bread, soy milk rolls, and soy milk with walnut rolls. The flower roll is hearty and filling! Bought a jar of strawberry and blueberry jam too. Takes credit card, outside seating, and take out.

Pros: Few vegan options, Vegetarian ok

Cons: Dairy, egg, carnist options

Restaurant worth a visit!

The 3rd floor has a restaurant with a great view. They were able to make the Soup Lunch Set vegetarian upon request (swapping out the bacon bread for plain bread). A bit pricey, but big serving and nice flavor. Right by the boat dock and very convenient.

Vegan options

A very popular bakery full of tourists. They had a few vegan options even though we went later in the day. Everything tasted fresh and delicious! They should try to expand their vegan options even more.

Cons: A bit expensive

Beautiful location

Just on the shores of Lake Ashi, this cosy bakery offers a few vegan breads. We had the tofu-walnut bread, and a flower-scented bread with a freshly squeezed orange juice. Nice stop to unwind before or after visiting Hakone-jinja.

Pros: beautiful location

Cons: limited vegan options
