Fun atmosphere - Edit
Not only was the food good, but the service was excellent. Being celiac always brings me anxiety while eating out in a new city, but our server was great at helping me navigate the menu. He offered great drink pairings as well. Highly recommend the mushroom dish

Favourite!!! Don’t miss it! - Edit
My partner and I eat here regularly, and on special occasions. The food is done so well, and they have a separate vegan menu to make things easy. Dishes that keep us going back : Sourdough bread with sunflower seed crema, Lemon and Olive tempura, Fried Carrot Dish, and the most incredible and insanely delicious ice cream sandwich for dessert. Just wow, don’t miss this place!

Vegan Unfriendly & Optionless - Edit
The Randolph street destination, formerly one of my favorites, has risen from the ashes of their fire as a vegan unfriendly Argentine meat shack, for brunch at least. There was quite literally one vegan option (a breakfast burrito) which is not even an option if your desire is to eat gluten free, hence, zero options. I have no objection to a restaurant being whatever they want to be, but don't call yourself Bad Hunter or post marketing materials making claims or suggestions that this restaurant serves the vegan community.

About half of their dinner menu is/can be vegan, about a third of their brunch menu is/can be vegan. Sure, they oversell themselves and should be more vegan/vegetarian, but there's plenty of options.

Celebratory dinner - Edit
I’ve gone here for birthdays and anniversaries and have enjoyed the plant based options and drinks. The service is excellent, but it is relatively pricey, considering you’re eating just plants decorated with sauces and spices.

Best service ever - Edit
The service here is very kind and accommodating of all kinds of special food requests. They bring separate menus to fit each person's dietary needs and will alter dishes to suit. Also very accommodating of beverage choices and made me a nice non-alcoholic cocktail.
Read moreThat said, it's very pricy, and there's not really a ton of vegan options. Basically one in each category: main, side, dessert, bread, salad, appetizer. I didn't love the vegan entree, a pasta with truffles dish that had no particular truffle flavor to me.
Definitely come here for the ambiance and the service.

Amazing flavors, but pricey - Edit
My meat and dairy-eating boyfriend and I decided to try Bad Hunter one evening for dinner as we had both heard a lot of hype about it from other people and wanted to see if it was as good as they were saying. We sat outside which was nice and as you can see from photos online the inside of the restaurant is nice as well. As soon as we sat down and I told the waiter I was vegan, he brought out the vegan menu. The waiter also informed us the food was served tapas style to share (which I’m not a huge fan of) and that the menus were seasonal and change quite a bit which we didn’t anticipate, but rolled with anyway. There were a decent amount of dishes we both liked on the vegan menu which was nice given that sometimes it can be hard to find common ground with non-vegans/vegetarians when ordering to share. Overall all of the dishes we had tasted great - especially the corn on the cob with raspberry jam, jalapeño butter, and corn nuts and the grilled sourdough bread with sunflower crema. The menu definitely allows you to be a little adventurous in that sense that a lot of the flavors and dishes are different from what you might have on a typical dinner out. However, the bill was pretty steep for the 5 small plates we had. I can’t see myself going back there on a regular basis because of the small portions and high prices, but perhaps for a special occasion or celebration

Yummy - Edit
After reading the reviews I was a bit worried about coming here as a full vegan, but I’m so glad I did. They had a separate vegan menu (which I posted a picture of, but they do change it seasonally). The dishes are all small and meant to share, so we tried almost everything on the vegan menu. The grilled sour dough with the sunflower creme was a stand out, so was the lemon and broccoli tempura (sounded weird but tasted good!). Wasn’t a huge fan of the lemon sauce on their vegan pasta, but overall thought the meal was amazing. The restaurant is definitely plant heavy, so if your a vegetarian you’ll enjoy it more than if your vegan. My only negatives was the slow service and that they ran out of some of the food. But our waitress was lovely and apologized profusely saying two of the kitchen staff called in sick (and even comped us the dish we were waiting for).

Good Flavors - Edit
Separate vegan menu, came with a veggie and a meat eater and there was options for all. Really unique dishes, it was nice to try some new flavors. Only thing was the service was a little slow, but overall I would recommend to anyone

False advertising - Edit
I haven’t been since I switched to vegan, but even when I went as a VEGETARIAN the choices were few and puzzling. I thought “Bad Hunter” was supposed to be like, “Hey, we suck at serving animals; come eat veg!” At that time, more than half the menu was meat. I don’t remember being that impressed by the food I ate.

No Go - Edit
It’s expensive and there’s not a lot of options for vegans. I came here because it markets itself as the vegetable butcher but it’s definitely not.

Meh - Edit
I've been only once I was not impressed. Not at all. There is virtually nothing vegan on the menu and anything that can be made vegan is really just a side dish. I can go to any fancy restaurant in Chicago and get some vegan side dishes. Big deal. The veggie burger is not vegan, but they do list bacon as an option for it. Dinner for 4, eating whatever vegan sides they scraped together for us, was close to $300. I left hungry and disappointed.
