Soggy and expensive - Edit
This restaurant was recommended to me by a local, I was really excited to go. Usually I don't mind paying more if it's great food, but I was quite disappointed. My tacos were really soggy and it's very expensive for what you get. Taste-wise it was good but not great. Quesadilla was yummy but again, not worth $13. It's a shame because staff members are friendly and the atmosphere is cool. I wouldn't recommend coming out of the way for it though.

Bad Hombres serves the best and most authentic Mexican food I’ve had. The Nachos are the best I’ve ever had with an incredible cashew cream. The tacos are also packed full of flavour!

One of the tacos we had was fantastic. The other two completely forgettable. All good came out barely warm, we tried to get someone’s attention to send back to reheat but no one was paying attention (despite the fact that it wasn’t very busy).
Read moreThe really good taco was the miso eggplant (would have been REALLY good if it was actually hot!).
We also tried the quesadilla and it was just okay.
Overall, worth it for their taco Tuesday special but wouldn’t bother otherwise.

Amazing service, my host chased me down the block after a table canceled moments after I walked in without a booking and they turned me away. Holy mole. Food and cocktails came out fast and were top notch.

Probably the most epic vegan food I’ve ever had! It’s hard to put into words how good their miso eggplant tacos are 🌮 I could eat those every day! I also highly recommend their loaded fries 🍟 🤤🤤🤤 Everything we’ve tried on their menu has been exceptionally good and it will probably continue being my fav Mexican place.

Always love coming to a restaurant and being able to order anything off the menu. We ordered to share between two; the nachos and one of each taco (5 choices) which were all delicious, especially the jackfruit and eggplant ones. The tacos are a little small so you might need to order a bit more if hungry however, it suited us fine on the day as we had a late lunch.

Read moreGood food, well presented. Surry Hills location, so trendy venue, small and intimate but in a loud way. No risk of the next table overhearing your conversation, rock music was a bit hard and a bit loud for a truly pleasant dining experience, maybe I’m just old.
It’s not cheap, maybe take advantage of a Taco Tuesday 3 for $10.
My lot were taken with the Quesadilla, looked handmade with a purple tortilla, kale and roast tomato salsa. Charred corn was nice but at $12 for 2 pieces that’s up there for a single ear of corn cut in 2.
BH Cauliflower was very good, plate of seasoned cauliflower served with some sides and corn tortillas ($28), ouch.
TBH it was ok, but I wouldn’t rush back, we’ve had better all plant based Mexican in Newtown with better value.

Mexican fusion vegan experience - Edit
I had been to many Mexican restaurants but this was not only totally vegan, but more authentic and a pleasant surprise. The flavours were subtle yet satisfying. The textures complemented and popped unexpectedly. The aromas were all delicious. For the wine and cocktail aficionados there is an extensive cellar. Enjoyable all round.

Take it from a San Diegan...this place has a great relaxed vibe, amazing margaritas, and some of the best mexican food I've had since becoming vegan. Fresh flavours and ingredients. Thank you bad hombres! I feel like I've come home!

The food here was so tasty. We ordered share plates and had a hard time deciding because everything on the menu looks appealing. The serving sizes were just right and the food just had so much flavour. The staff were very friendly, and the cocktails are definitely worth trying!

Perhaps I came on a bad night but I wasn’t wowed by Bad Hombres. Some of the dishes were lovely but others were just mediocre. The staff were alright but to be honest I really didn’t feel cool enough for here. The crème brûlée was amazing though. I’d head back and give it another try for sure. The food was beautifully presented.

Amazing food, great service, cosy restaurant with trendy atmosphere. Everything we've ever ordered from here has been delicious! You will need to book a table online due to social distancing requirements, but we noticed they are also offering home delivery now as well.
