Disappointment

I had big expectations with this restaurant but was disappointed. The roasted duck was flavourless and the pineapple rice tasted more like burnt pan than pineapple.
They do charge extra if you use the wet towels, I've seen this before in Vietnam but in this case they don't provide paper napkins so they kind of force you to use the towels.
The place is cozy and staff are nice though.

Very tasty

Seems like people have different experiences here, luckily our experience was really good. You do have to order rice separately and it is a little more pricey than most restaurants here. Still really recommend!

Best food and best service

It’s such a beautiful place in a small alleyway. We got the udon noodles and the pineapple fried rice and it was the best food we have had here in Vietnam. The staff is so friendly and gave us time enough to look at the menu and they explained the food we ordered. Even offered to take pictures of us because we said the restaurant was beautiful. Really nice experience and big menu to choose from

Pros: Many options , Nice staff, Beautiful

Tasty food

I ended up in this restaurant as all others around were closed due to the new year celebrations. The food was tasty. But my best part was lotus tea.

Unpleasant experience

Food was not good. Also asked for fried rice with tofu instead of mock meat. She asked the chef and it was okay but come back with just rice with mushrooms. It had a really weird taste. My boyfriend had the noodlesoup and the flavour was also weird. She asked us to sit when we wanted to pay because she wanted to finish something on her phone and they charged us extra for napkins. Bitter taste after leaving this place..

Not recommended

The fried tofu was really nice, but the service was bad. We received a different dish that wasn’t very tasty. The duck noodle soup was ok. It’s also super weird that we needed to pay for a napkin?! Never heard of that one before…

Pros: Authentic Vietnamese dishes

Cons: Quite expensive

Disappointing

Food lacked flavour & any creativity, staff were disinterested & bored, ignoring us.
Worst meal in Vietnam- except for Halong Bay boat trip.

Cons: The curry was pretty bad

Good food and several locations, doesn't disappoint

There's a few of these around Saigon and they have an enourmous menu, so I'm still yet to scratch the surface. Food always comes out so quickly despite the range. Have been with Vegan Vietnamese friends who select the restaurant, so it must be good.

A little more expensive than some other places but good for a little bit more upmarket dinner.

Bà Xã or Loving Wife

40 metres off Pasteur Street you will find this wonderful restaurant. Clean, quiet environment with four tables downstairs and more on the first floor. There's an extensive menu to choose from. We chose Teppanyaki fish in pepper, Thiết Bảng Ngư (Cá Chạy Sốt Tiêu); Tofu in black bean sauce, Đậu Hủ Sốt Tuong; Baby pumpkin with garlic, Bí Nụ Xào (Bơ Tỏi); Salty Fish (seaweed) Fried Rice, Cơm Chiên Cá Mặn Chay and Salted Lemon drink, Chanh Muối. A very tasty combination with a variety of texture. AU$30/US$20/EUR18.50 We're here for two weeks and this is the closest vegan restaurant. There's a big menu to get through!

Pros: Clean, quiet environment, big menu with lots of variety

Great food and atmosphere but terrible service

The waiters were two teenage looking boys who spoke no English at all. They seemed to be preoccupied by chasing each other behind the counter. We ordered our food and mine arrived in 5 minutes. We had to ask after the food of my wife after 20 minutes passed. They did not remember it. Then we ordered again and waited for another 20 minutes. Still nothing and my food went completely cold. Then we had to walk up to the counter and ask for our food a second time! They finally understood that she wants to eat too, and delivered the soup in 5 minutes. The most frustrating part was that all the while they were watching videos, chasing each other, laughing, poking and minding everything else besides our food.

Pros: Delicious food, Huge menu

Cons: Two annoying teenage boys were the waiters, No English speaking waiter, Had to wait over 40 minutes!

Amazing noodle soups

The crispy duck soup was incredible, could’ve done with a little more duck for my liking. The Pho was okay but not the best I have ever had.

Pros: So many mock meats , Lovely interior , Flavourful

Cons: Not the cheapest but average

Huge menu

Huge menu, difficult to choose. I ended up trying "roasted cartilage", I got very suspicious if it was real meat, but they explained its made from cotton tree. Experience one may oftrn have with South-East Asian fake meat! Funny Sectarian video running non-stop in background.

New, clean, delicious!

UPDATE: One of the owners' daughter has explained to me the mayonnaise is 100% vegan. She told me how it's made. A lovely restaurant owned by a lovely family.
Nice and affordable vegan food. BUT is it fully vegan? Their mayonnaise tasted like real mayonnaise. I couldn't eat it. I asked the staff and their response left me to doubt it's vegan. Their district 1 location is the best.

Updated from previous review on 2023-02-02

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Clean and quiet , Friendly staff

Cons: Not much English spoken by staff , Is their mayonnaise vegan?

Fake meat made very authentic

We had the roasted duck and the braised pork and, according to my partner both tasted like the real meat version.
Both dishes were tasty and the duck meat salad was good as well.
The price was a bit higher than comparable restaurants but still very affordable.
The staff could improve on their English skills as only the third waiter was able to understand me asking for the restroom.

A large menu with heaps of choices. Everything we ordered was amazing. A special shout-out to the avocado smoothie and fried tofu. We will probably come back again tomorrow! 10/10 recommend.

nice water feature

this is the second and definitely my favourite ba xa location so far, quiet and well hidden. decor is nice. the pork was very realistic ( as said by my carnist bf) the fried tofu in hong kong sauce definitely worth trying. the wife hand holding noodles were okay, just a bit plain. the food came out super hot, had to wait a while for it to cool down!

A hidden gem

The place is well hidden in an alleyway and very quiet which is rare in this city. I had the summer rolls and the Tepayaki fish which were both real good and a big portion. The ice-cream was sold out unfortunately.

The service was fast and prices reasonable. The menu is big and you have lots of choices. The place is clean and has a relaxing atmosphere.

The place seems to be connected to Supreme Master Ching Hai as their channel was on all the time.

Pros: Big menu, Good quality food , Clean Ambiente

Cons: Some food was not available

Tasty food

We had braised pepper vegetarian pork and a veggie fish plus rice and drinks. A little tricky to find the restaurant because it is in an alley area but there is a clear sign nearby. Big menu and everything we had was very tasty. Some menu items were not available. Staff spoke decent english so communication was no problem for us😄

Pros: Many options, Good food and portion size
