Phenomenal

After eyeing this place for weeks, I finally ordered the vegan combo for delivery (via Doordash). Wow. I have never had Ethiopian food before, but it was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend asked me what it was, and all I could say was, “I don’t know, but it’s amazing!” The injera with each dish was perfect, and the flavors all worked together well. I do not know what else to say besides you need this in your life; it’s just that good. Trust the reviews and give this place a try!

#1 Ethiopian restaurant

The vegetarian platter is phenomenal. Tikil gomen, Misir wot, or red lentil stew; Atir kik, or yellow split pea stew; *Shiro wot, or chickpea flour stew; serve with two different seasoning.

Pros: Huge platter, Best Shiro Wot, Strong coffee

Vegetarian platter is always vegan

We double checked and the vegetarian platter comes vegan unless people request butter. We also always get another lentil dish that I don’t know the name of and it is delicious.

Simply The Best

If you've had good injera in San Diego it likely came from the kitchen of Awash. Masters of fermenting Teff, the supple bread flows freely along with the Veggie Combo. Lately they've been serving the combo with two types of hot sauce, but if you're not keen on spice you can ask for a salad instead.

Pros: Affordable , Vegetarian options are vegan

Cons: So good that sometime you have to wait for a table

Delicious

This place is SO good! If you haven’t been here before, it’s in the back of a convenience store. The staff are really friendly, but service is a bit slow so expect to spend some time here. They make everything fresh. The injera is the most flavorful I’ve ever had and I can’t get enough of their veggie platter. It doesn’t look like a lot of food when you get it, but it will more than fill you up. I appreciate the extra spicy seasoning they put on the side as well. Stellar all around!
