Best Gluten-free crust - Edit
We cannot say enough good about this place. Avatara has an absolutely great selections for vegan options, that tastes amazing. We will be returning to the city because of this place! Also worth noting is the vegan ice cream available right next to it.

A Little Disappointing - Edit
Was a bit disappointed with the vegan mac and cheese and vegan lasagna. The cheesecake was ok, but wasn't as advertised. Will definitely give their pizza a shot in the future, as it seems to have great reviews, but I won't be ordering pasta from them in the future.

I would give this 5 stars, but the five star rating is only permitted for fully vegan and vegetarian restaurants. Nonetheless, this is a community-minded business with flavourful, nutritious pizza. The restaurant is a cosy and clean with very amiable staff. All in all, a great experience from time of order to the last bite.

Delicious pizzas with lots of vegan options or the option to make your own. I wasn’t sure what to expect with a GF crust but it was really good with crunchy texture. Owner was extremely helpful when it came to questions about the menu and the service throughout our meal was amazing. We shared the Picasso pizza (sub vegan cheese) and a side of Falafel chips and hummus. Two of their dessert options (cheesecakes) were vegan so we tried both the chocolate and strawberry!

Best vegan gluten free pizza in Calgary - Edit
This pizza place is super close to my partners work, we go here often. They now have beyond meat sausages - incredible make your own options or mainly every pizza they carry can be made vegan and gluten free! They also have great gluten free beer, amazing service and even host local art events!

Whilst its not 100% vegan this place is very sensitive and aware of vegan needs. They cut the pizza with a separate cutter, they have vegan desserts and are always accommodating. I love the Picasso vegan pizza which has artichoke hearts and vegan cheese. All excellent quality.

I don't know about the previous reviewer(s), but I've stuck with meatless pizzas when ordering from here. They offer vegan cheese - which is clearly vegan in its consistency and texture compared side by side with real cheese. I've gotten two pizzas from here - the Picasso without feta, and the Aristotle with vegan mozzarella. Both were good. I personally found the crust to be quite crunchy, but it was all delicious nonetheless.

Walked in and got served straight away, plenty of choice for vegetarians and vegans (vegan cheese available). All crusts are gluten free and vegan so what's not to like! Would definitely stop by again!

While I am vegan, I had a friend in town that is dairy-free and gluten-free, so I instantly thought of Avatara. I have to admit that I was slightly disappointed they ONLY offer gluten-free pizza, because I have no aversions to gluten. But the pizza itself was delicious! Loved the vegan cheese, loved the variety of high-quality toppings, and the crust was a nice consistency. I definitely recommend this place!

I went for my first time a few days ago! I ordered the vegan Buddha and got some falafel chips! The chips were delicious -- a half order fills half of a small pizza box (it looks somewhat pathetic, I wished I had got a full order)!
Read moreI think the Buddha was good, but I will definitely be trying something else. It had a very strong "ginger" taste that I've been told is the curry. It overwhelms the other flavors, which is too bad, because I could just tell everything else was amazing! The crust had great crunch (I didn't ask what crust I used, just specified vegan on the phone) and I enjoyed the pizza even if the sauce was overpowering. My boyfriend and I were okay sharing one pizza, even though I was worried it wouldn't be enough! They're actually pretty filling. But more chips, for sure.

Read moreThey have a bunch of interesting pizza options, there's a couple from "Far East (places like India), and a few from "The Americas." Very good! Although I was craving something like pepperoni (as a vegan that's a hard craving to satisfy) and the pizza didn't really do it for that! However it was delicious. I believe they only had thin crust, but that could just be the vegan option!

I had the Buddha pizza - the curry sauce was a bit too spicy for me, but otherwise it was great. They didn't cheap out on the Daiya cheese, and the toppings went all the way to the edge - woo hoo! The cashews were really good, too. I'll be back! (and next time I'll do what the owner suggests and ask that a separate pizza cutter be used...that should standard practice, tho, IMHO.)

Vegan Pizza with whole wheat crust - Edit
They have Daiya cheese for vegan pizzas, and the whole wheat crust and the tomato sauce are vegan. I had a vegan Margherita pizza, with fresh basil and parsley. It was really good. I like how they use a good amount of Daiya. I would probably prefer a normal crust, but for a whole wheat crust it was good, especially if you are trying to be healthier.
