simple and tasty - Edit
had to walk here as it is outside the city but only about 10 minutes from the rail station. and thanking ourselves we did so. simple set menu for a reasonable cost. lentil soup. really tasty rice/couscous combo, salad. no pretend meats, quiet suitable for vegans. the wine was pleasant and the deserts ( I had cheese cake my partner carrot cake) baked on the premises. two sisters run the place quietly and efficiently. We spoke no French but no issue , just such friendly people can't wait to go back. they also have quite pleasant music in the background and her art work decorates the walls.

The restaurant is a vegetarian restaurant but most of the dishes served are suitable for vegans. I have been there four times and I cannot get enough anymore of their delicious food. It is good to reserve as the restaurant might be full some days. Good restaurants attract people. There is one different dish every day. The two sisters are very welcoming and I highly recommend this place.

I went here on my first day in Luxembourg and again before I left. Great food both times! A little ways from the city center, but well worth the walk! The two sisters who own the restaurant are super nice. I called up on my first day because it was getting close to closing time (they're only open for lunch). They were nice enough to save some food for me to eat when I got there right around closing time. There's basically one dish each day, but I didn't mind not having a big menu to choose from. The food was delicious and the portion was very generous. Also enjoyed a dessert to go.

Nice place, a little out of town - Edit
I'm surprised that we're the first on Happy Cow to review Au Plaisir De Vivre - it's been open for years by the looks of things! That's not to say it isn't nice - it has a pleasant, homely atmosphere and friendly staff. It's run by two sisters, only one of whom was there when we visited, but she spoke English very well and was nice and helpful.
Read moreIt's a strange set-up, but one which seems to be common in that part of the world - there's only one set meal per day (confusingly for English speakers, a set meal is often called a "menu" in Europe) and it cost €11.80 when we visited at the end of December 2010. That's pretty good for Luxembourg, where many of the restaurant prices can take your breath away.
On the day we visited the meal was lentil soup, brown rice and vegetables with peanut sauce, and salad with dressing. It came on a huge plate and was very filling and satisfying. The peanut sauce and the lentil soup were great! Drinks-wise, there was wine and beer on offer but we had juice - one carrot and orange, which was nice, and one beetroot and red grape, which was interesting and not quite as horrid as it might sound! There were also some very tempting puddings on offer which sounded superb, but we were both too full from the big meal.
The restaurant is about five or ten minutes walk from the central rail station down a not very inspiring street (the sort of street that's full of car dealerships and kitchen showrooms), or about 20 minutes walk from the main centre, but Luxembourg is quite a small city so it's easy enough to get there and a pleasant stroll back into town or the valley. (Tip: It's on the corner of Rue de Hollerich and Rue de l'Eglise, opposite the church.)
Most of the food is made by the sisters, including the puddings, so no pre-packed stuff. It was warm and comfortable, nice music was playing softly, and there was a good number of people eating there. The tablecloths looked like they could do with a wash, but that's my only real complaint.
Overall, a nice place and well worth the walk out from the centre of town.
