What a surprise - Edit
Normally I avoid the touristic city center if I want to go to a restaurant. But we were curious and gave it a try. And it was a real surprise. Friendly staff, fancy interior and a lot of veggie and vegan options (both clearly labeled). The are cocktails/mocktails in the menu. And the food, a mix of Nepal and India, is delicous. We had a portion of veggie momos as a starter and two curries as a main course (Aloo Tama Bodi and Daal Tadka) and roti naan. We really enjoyed it and we will come back to check the rest of the menu.

Awesome fancy place 😍 - Edit
Really nice, more chique place (ideal for celebrations 😉) with delicious food and MANY vegan options, as well as to-be-made vegan vegetarian dishes 🤤☺️ The waiters are so nice, and really help you in such a nice and welcoming way with a big smile on their face! The samosa is super good. Don’t do 2 on the spicyness when you’re taking the Massala 🤪 3 = for the native Indians they said

Ashoka Indian Restaurant is gorgeous and food is delish! - Edit
My sister and I are both vegans and our meals at Ashoka were absolutely delicious! We ate outside because the weather was lovely but be sure to step inside the restaurant as well. We are both interior designers and appreciated the gorgeous interior high end luxury design in this restaurant! What a delightful surprise!.
Read moreWe stayed at the Kimpton de Witt so for us the restaurant is conveniently located right across the street. Could be a bit of a walk if you are not staying near the train station but definitely worth the jaunt!

Good - Edit
Saw this on the app and ordered the Vegan dumplings (Moo - very good) and the Nepalese black eyed peas and bamboo shoots, and it was good. Not fantastic, but satisfying and the right amount for 2 people.

Lots of Vegan Options - Edit
I really enjoyed my meal at Ashoka. I was impressed to see that they had a generous amount of plant-based options that were super delicious! Additionally, the staff here are also incredibly kind and attentive. I highly recommend coming here if you are with others who aren't too interested in full-vegan dining because at least you will have options to choose from.

Excellent, classy restaurant, good spicing - Edit
The personnel were very friendly and helpful, but did not all speak Dutch. The orders came quickly. The interior looked great, but the ceiling is high, so it can get noisy.
Read moreThe food was really good. On the menu, they only show what can be prepared as vegan for the starters and main dishes, but the personnel could help me out with that.
We had both vegan starters: samosa and onion bhaji. They were delicious: good spicing and not oily. We got 2 sauces, the white one was yoghurt-based with mint, so not vegan, the red one was vegan (my fellow diner was not vegan).
Then I had the chana masala (chickpea curry sauce with garlic, onion and tomatoes), which was also excellent. I would have liked to have more vegetables, but there were plenty of chickpeas and I could not manage to eat more than 2/3, so the portion was very generous. Their medium spicy was so hot I could not eat it without rice. So ask for mild if you are sensitive to spicy meals. Of the naan breads, the plain and garlic ones are vegan. We got the garlic naan, which was equally delicious. It was clearly baked and a bit crusty, yummy!
The only vegan desserts are the mango and coconut sorbet. I got the coconut one and loved it.
So, we had a wonderful experience.
Pros: excellent staff, tasty food
Cons: not all staff was able to speak Dutch, not all vegan food was marked as such on the menu

Great vegan and veg options - Edit
Great vegan and vegetarian menu. Aloo gobi and tarka Dahl were delicious. Great staff who told me exactly what was vegan, or could be made vegan. Original address listed on app is the old location, but new location a two minute walk away. Staff updating new address.

Best Indian Ever - Edit
Maybe the best indian food i’ve ever had. Great for a small group with vegans/non-vegans together. The server immediately asked me if i was vegan when i ordered off the vegetarian/vegan page and then asked if i wanted the chef to make me vegan naan. He also described each dish when it came out (pointing out which sides/dishes that my friends ordered were vegan). This was great since then i knew which ones i could try! They really took care of me so don’t hesitate to let them know you are vegan. Food was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! if you like indian food this will be a great experience for you. they are a bit small inside so you may want a reservation if you don’t want to wait.
Read morePros: full page of vegan options, delicious food, accommodating server
Cons: expensive, you may have to wait (small interior)
