Super tasty and many veg options!

We had the Set menu (sri lankan Rice and curry) and the vegetable naan, and the mixed salads - all as well as the lassis (sadly, like all places in SL, no soy Joghurt though) were delicious. You notice they put effort into making good food, their veggies are flavourful and well prepared. Especially the salads were a Real treat, which is rare in Sri Lanka :)

Highly recommended!!

So so good! Try the masala naan with vegetables (2 big naan plus Dahl!!). It’ll definitely fill you up. And the soya devilled! Super yummy. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough! Plus the staff and owners are super lovely :)

Pros: Yummy, Cheap (naan included Dahl!), Lovely staff

Delicious curry and pancakes!

The food here is great! So glad to find it in Hikkaduwa! We also tried the vegan Sri Lanka pancakes and they're amazzzing, as usually they're made with honey.

Authentic and flavourful

We got the "set menu", which consisted of about 5 small dishes with rice and papadams. We asked for it vegan but I think it was probably vegan by default. Was so delicious, heaps of flavour and a good serving size. Would definitely go again

Pros: Food was delicious

Was okay but nothing special

Unfortunately, i overlooked the fact that there are no vegetables with the soya curry. The soy granules were still a bit hard & had not much taste & yeah, i missed the vegetables. The service & the price were okay. Nothing special.

Pros: Few vegan options

Cons: Not much taste

Tasty, cheap and nice range of vegan options

We went there on our first evening in Sri Lanka and were not disappointed. We actually hav no comparison yet, but we liked the food and there is a great option to get some kind of different small plates so you can try different things and it is not even more expensive than single menu options. And we were more than full.

Pros: More than enough for a cheap price, Tasty, Great vegan options

Great vegan Options

We've been there a few times and ate very good. The currys and the soya dishes are delicious and they know how to cook vegan. They made me vegan naan and vegan coconut pancakes, yummy. Thumbs up!

Favourite food in Sri Lanka!

Oh wow this was so amazing! I don’t understand why the reviews aren’t better as this was some of the best food we had in Sri Lanka. We came here twice during our 3 days in hikkaduwa as it was so delicious - get the devilled soy and the set menu. Was so nice to have devilled soya pieces on the menu as I’ve seen devilled chicken on menus all over Sri Lanka and love trying traditional foods so was nice to have the option. Service was a little slow when it was busier but to be expected. The aubergine and the poppadoms were amazing. Wish I could go back! Vegan items highlighted on menu. Was slightly pricier than other places we’d eaten and came to about 2300 LKR for 2 people having drinks and mains but still cheap for the quality

Pros: Lots of vegan options of traditional foods, Vegan items highlighted , Delicious!

Cons: Slightly pricier than local places , Service a bit slow

Good

They offer three dishes with soya meat, soya meat curry with rice was nothing special, but devilled soya meat with vegetable rice was amazin! Service is kinda slow, but the ambient is really nice and so are the people working there. We also tried one of the special soups, had realy special taste, my bf liked it, i didn't.. We paid 10€ for two main dishes and a soup.

Pros: Good food, nice ambient, beautiful family story

Cons: Not so cheap, slow service

Best restaurant in Hikkaduwa

One of the best curries we've had in Sri Lanka and I would also highly recommend fried soya with veg rice (both vegan). Probably the best food I've eaten on the island. If I could, I'd take the chef to my home to cook for me. The staff are very friendly and speak very good english. The chef cooks very fast, which is exceptional in Sri Lanka. Thank you for an amazing experience. All the best.

Pros: Fast chef, Amazing food, Not very spicy

Delicious

We went to Aroma twice, both times having their rice and curry set for R1400 for 2 people
The first meal was better than the first, but both were amzing and the people there are really nice and welcoming
If we remember right, the sons of the founder are vegetarian, which makes it a shame that they don't ditch the ltd meat menu they serve - chicken and fish, no pork or beef

Pros: Aubergine curry

Cons: Serves meat
