Three vegans had the farinata (a chickpea omelette with veg)with salads and a sweet potato burger with tofu and sweet chilli jam . Delicious food (see photo ) . Coffee was lovely, also had a green smoothie which was divine .

Not an ethical shop - Edit
The person in the shop tried to convince me that cow farming was fine and that cow farmers look after their cows. I also overheard one of the other workers trying to sell some people something that promotes alkalinity in the body and said most people's bodies are too acid 😄. Anyone with even basic scientific knowledge knows this is dangerous nonsense. This combination of ignorance and lack of ethics was too much for me and I left.

Could be better - Edit
This business needs to make it clear their on their website that the cafe shuts at 2 on a Saturday as I got there at 2.30 when their website says open till 3. Staff were nice and suggested takeaway items. Bought their split pea roll and homity pie. Both need some work to bring them up to scratch from what is very basic food with little nutrition. Maybe they’re better warm and eaten with other items. The main reason it’s such a disappointment is that the website makes a really big deal of being a healthy business that was ahead of its time, but the only options were pastry-based and very much stuck in the era this place was started. The split pea roll had about 10 split peas in what seemed like tomato purée and sage-flavoured sosmix. The homity pie was, well, homity pie made with vegan cheese. It was sustenance, but nothing more. Needs a little creativity and it could be 10 times better.

We had excellent take away lunch that we really enjoyed: vegan samosa, vegan pitta (filled with a lot of fresh salads and apple), chickpea "pizza" with aubergine and red onion relish and a carrot cake.

Good healthfood store with café - Edit
Good selection of vegan products. Separate room for supplements. Booja Booja ice cream, raw treats, vegan cheeses and mayo, pâtés, crisps, crackers, also personal care products. I intended to return and eat at the café but was caught in the ferry breakdown and ran out of time in Penzance.

Really nice vegan options - Edit
Unfortunately in Cornwall is not easy to find a fully vegan restaurant but places like this are an amazing resource for hungry vegans 🌱 😬. I really loved their bread and the salad was amazing as well. The vegan orange cake a bit too sweet for me but everything else was really tasty.

A hidden gem - Edit
This is my go-to place in Penzance. The store is downstairs offering wide choice of eco and vegan products. There is a refill service for laundry and toileteries. The herbal dispensery is on the mezzanine, and the warmest welcome upstairs in the restaurant.

Popped in for a quick coffee and cake mid-morning. Service was a little slow as they were busy but both the oat latte and the carrot cake that I ordered were good. The space is light and airy.

Don't bother for breakfast - Edit
Tasteless english breakfast. English breakfast can be really good but not at Archie Brown's. We went there several times during our stay in Penzance, out of lack of options.

Eclectic Spot in Cornwall - Edit
My friend and I were striking out on finding vegan food in Penzance while on a trip there last week, so after asking multiple shops in town where we could find a place with vegan options - Archie Brown's it was. You have to walk through a health food shop to get upstairs where the restaurant is at. Cool style, spot for kids, lots of specials. We both ordered the sweet potato & broccoli burger which came on one slice of bread, tomato, and tofu on top. It also came with a small side salad. The burger and salad were both great. The tofu, however, resembled meat far too much for me as far as the taste went, that I couldn't even eat it. It tasted exactly like ham, which I haven't eaten in over 5 years. That being said, maybe someone who hasn't transitioned from eating meat to eating a vegan diet yet would find it perfect. There were a few different vegan items in their desserts selection, and lots of different smoothies and juices for what seemed like reasonable prices. Would definitely go back again!

Nice, but not spectacular - Edit
We made a stop in Archie Brown's for tea and cake, and it was nice but nothing special. The service was a bit confused and hectic - it took a while to get our drinks, and there was a mistake in our order. It wasn't a very relaxing place to sit because the staff seemed so overwhelmed - perhaps it was a particularly busy day.
Read moreWe ordered two raw cheesecakes, and they were ok but quite small for £3 each - I wouldn't really recommend them for that reason.
Pros: Good range of vegan cakes
Cons: Hectic service, Overpriced raw cakes
