Tasty tradicional food - Edit
Comemos feijão gigante, com pimento recheado e com beringela recheada e ainda batata. Comida super saborosa, vegan. Atendimento simpático e rápido. Com possibilidade de comer em terraço. Achamos agradável.

Not so good traditional food - Edit
The food came with cheese while we asked for no cheese. The waiter however made no issue of this and brought other food. The vegan options are the traditional choices in Albania but these were not the best we’ve had. The food was very greasy and all in all not so delicious. Unless you’re in the castle area and have no other options, I would choose something else.

Mixed feelings - Edit
There are vegan options, the waiters are friendly and speak english, and there is comfortable indoor seating. It is conveniently located in the castle area. However, I really didn’t like the food, which I found very greasy and not tasty at all. Two dishes contained cheese, although I specified multiple times that we didn’t eat cheese, and waiter confirmed there would be no cheese. It is more expansive that other places nearby (in the castle area).

Nice traditional food on top of the castle hill - Edit
It was the only time I tried traditional cuisine in Albania, as most of the dishes were usually meat and dairy based. Here the owner and his family prepared for me some alternatives, like stuffed eggplants and peppers, that always come with cheese on top.
Read moreFood was very tasty, maybe the servings could have been a bit bigger (I believe they are traditionally eaten more like starters than full meal).
Pros: Traditional food made vegan (on request), Lovely staff

Food in the castle! Restorant Bar Tradicional Antipatrea - Edit
When checking out the ruins of the castle and its churches and mosques, you can sit down for some stuffed peppers and stuffed eggplants while still enjoying Berat's gorgeous views.
Read moreThe owner speaks decent English and knows what vegetarian and vegan mean. We were so excited to find this up there, so I want to spread the word that vegans can eat in the castle. Also it's got a real bathroom with TP.
I think because he's the owner he seemed slightly offended when we tipped him- business owners are the only people we encountered in Albania who didn't like being tipped.
Pros: Castle, Mountains, Tasty
