Great variety! - Edit
So glad we made this stop on our way back to the city. Pleasantly surprised by the variety and flavour. So many vegan options. The owners were super friend and so sweet. We enjoyed all our food and they even offer vegan dessert. We will be stopping here many more times on our way to our cottage.

Amazing vegan food - Edit
This place had as many vegan options as non-vegan ones and the food was so delicious. We had the vegan mac and cheese and vegan "beef" tacos and both were amazing. Almost everything was made from scratch and the vegan mac and cheese was one of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
Read moreThey also source all their meat from small scale farms with transport times to the slaughterhouse that are 1 hour or less - obviously still bad but at least they are making an effort to reduce suffering of animals in a small, rural town that might have difficulty supporting a fully vegan restaurant.
Many of the regular menu items (eg. ranch dip, base of the mac and cheese, etc.) are vegan, unbeknownst to the meat eaters which made me quite happy :)

Good food after a hike - Edit
Good points:
Read moreIncredibly on point and friendly service! The waiter even give us free deserts from yesterday's wedding.
Home made good quality food!! They make pretty much everything themselves even vegan cheese, vegan meat, vegan Ceaser dressing, vegan deserts.
Nice set-up and atmosphere there is a little card game on every table.
Food arrived super fast.
We squatted the place for hours and we were dressed almost like Hobos and we felt absolutely welcomed.
Less good point:
Floor was sticky, footprint and coffee drop covered.
Burger buns and pies were not warmed up.
Pros: A LOT of VEGAN OPTIONS

Lots of vegan options! - Edit
Lots of vegan options, clearly marked with a V it vegan or if you can make it vegan. The Mac and Cheese was delicious! Best vegan Mac and cheese I’ve had. Staff is super nice, the cheese was so yummy that I had to ask which cheese they use and they told me all of the ingredients, and they recommended places to go that we haven’t heard of. Washrooms were super clean. Awesome place! Definitely will be coming back next time we are in Tobermory. Would give 5 stars but it won’t let me.

Clearly marked vegan options - Edit
Ancient Cedars provides a variety of clearly-marked vegan or veganizable options, including nachos, burgers, curries, and noodles. The dishes are intentionally vegan, which is a nice option in the area. The portions for the 7 Wonders Burger were generous- good after a day of hiking.

A bit disappointed - Edit
Maybe it was our own fault that we went there during the off season after the Labour Day long weekend, and it was around 3 pm, i.e., between the normal lunch and dinner time, maybe it was about expectation - we have read pretty good comments on HappyCow before we visited, and the host of our B&B that was 40 km away immediately recommended the cafe when she learned that my family of three are all vegetarians... Anyways, the coco fritters and onion rings were a bit too greasy, the 7-wonders burger was just okay; the thing that is going to keep us from going back is that the plates, the cutlery and the cups were not clean! My husband went to ask for another plate, and came back with one just as bad!

Great surprise - Edit
Went to Tobermory thinking we'd not find anything vegan… to our very pleasant surprise we happened upon Ancient Cedars. Had the setan sandwich and vegan burger…both great. The caesar salad (vegan too) was awesome. Highly recommended as a vegetarion/vegan (serve meat too) stop on your next visit to Tobermory. The owners are very friendly.

Amazing Food, Service and View! - Edit
What a nice surprise to find a vegan friendly restaurant on a golf course in tobermory! My husband and I were more than pleased with our dinner, so much that we came back for breakfast. The view of the golf course is spectacular and everyone we met there were wonderful, especially the owners! Great place, great food, great people! Would've given it 5 stars but happy cow wouldn't let me! Thank you ancient cedars!!!
