An oasis of calm - Edit
Ambleside Manor is a wonderful guesthouse. There’s a comfortable and tranquil atmosphere. The breakfasts are delicious and the rooms are great. We often return here because we know we will leave feeling happy and restored.

Amazing breakfast at a really nice B&B - Edit
Vegan breakfast was just wonderful. Scrambled tofu, homemade granola, stewed fruit, plant-based croissant. I enjoyed my breakfast in a way I remember from before I was vegan. (As I'm sure we all know, vegan breakfast at a non-vegan establishment is often very disappointing.) Only slight let-down was the coconut yoghurt, which was a little watery. But that was nowhere near enough to detract from a great experience. The B&B itself was nice too - clean and comfortable. Homemade vegan biscuits in the room too. What's not to like?

Good value for money - Edit
We booked the winter deal - room with breakfast plus film & 2 course meal at one of their sister restaurants. Great value for money & handy location a short walk from Ambleside centre.
Read moreBreakfast was delicious - cereals & fruit with coconut yoghurt available, juices & smoothie of the day (vegan friendly) & vegan cooked breakfast available. Can even preorder vegan croissants if you so wish. Staff were very friendly & knowledgeable about dietary requirements.

Lovely Short Break Away! - Edit
It was a welcome change to not have to worry about my food at a B&B for once! I loved the fresh croissant in the morning and the breakfasts were tasty (especially the homemade nut butter).
Read moreThe b&b is vegetarian though, so definitely worth remembering people will order eggs and cows milk around you.

Wouldn’t call it vegan friendly - Edit
Stopped here because of the sign outside advertising their vegan ice cream. They have about 5-6 flavour, but only chocolate and vanilla are vegan. The only vegan cake they have is carrot cake or flapjack, so just about the same as any non-vegetarian place in the world these days.
Read moreI also find it odd that they sell non-vegan certified alcohol—the vast majority of non-vegan filtering agents in alcohol are not vegetarian (e.g., isinglass or gelatine). So how do they justify this as a vegetarian place?
You’ll maybe be happy going here as a vegetarian, but I can guarantee that vegans hoping to find satisfying snacks be disappointed.
Pros: It’s there, It doesn’t sell meat
Cons: No more vegan options than anywhere else really

Hi ElyG, Thanks for your feedback - I guess from your review that you visited our tea garden, rather that the guest house. Apologies your experience was less than perfect. Please be assured that all of our alcohol is indeed vegan. I'll take note that we could have more vegan cakes and ice cream choices on our menu at the tea garden.

We'll Be Back! - Edit
Fully vegetarian b&b which caters well to vegans too. Luxurious rooms within an old manor, breakfast included in the price. Great value, too. We'll be back one day hopefully.

Fantastic retreat for vegans - Edit
We stayed here for the Christmas package. As vegans we were so well catered for. The staff have very good understanding and provided lovely food. The breakfasts are great, lots of hot and cold options including freshly baked vegan apricot croissants. We also ate at Fellinis and Zeffirellis as part of the package and both are fantastic for vegans.

Tea Garden For Vegan Options Is Lovely - Edit
With Covid restrictions in place until the 17th May for hospitality, Ambleside Manor recently opened the tea garden in the beautiful grounds surrounding the hotel. The menu has a good selection of vegan options, although limited on the cake front, with only a vegan flapjack on offer, which hopefully they will address, but bonus points for labelling their wines and beers.
Read moreHubby chose the falafel, houmous, tomato chutney and spinach panini, with the avocado, roast red pepper, rocket and pine nut panini for me. The paninis were beautifully presented and good sized portions, with scrumptious fillings and a small side salad, absolutely perfect for lunch.
I loved everything about the tea garden, away from the hustle bustle of the town centre on a busy Saturday afternoon, for a refined and peaceful lunch.

Sadly gone downhill - Edit
Stayed here many times in past without issue, but last visit a huge disappointment. New managers and several issues. The first was we had very large mould on bedroom wall. There was several areas that were showing signs of water ingress throughout. The fridges designated for guests milk was being used by other guests to store meat. Yes not every visitor to a veggie hotel is a veggie but really? Then we had to ask for bedding changed as was all feather down ! Very disappointing they use while promoting themselves as veggie/vegan.

delightful, comfortable, friendly - Edit
Stayed here recently and would certainly recommend. The rooms are very comfortable, well equipped, clean. Breakfast is excellent, everything a vegetarian or vegan could want, e.g. scrambled tofu, mushrooms, soya yoghurt, freshly made fruit salad. Owners and staff are very friendly, there was a log fire in the dining and sitting rooms.

gorgeous hotel - Edit
my partner and i stayed at the hotel for three nights. we booked the 3 nights dinner deal which includes either a three course dinner or a movie and a two course dinner at zefirellis or fellinis for each night of the stay.
Read morethe breakfast was wonderful and very filling, the suite absolutely gorgeous and the staff was very nice and attentive.
the only down side (pun intended) was that the duvets were down duvets. I'd expect more from a vegetarian hotel, to be honest.
Pros: gorgeous rooms, nice location, close to town center, tasty breakfast
Cons: down duvets!
