22-10-2022: Dikke aanrader! Shared starters is een aanrader, lekkere mix van wat ze aan te bieden hebben! Maar pas op, dit vult al aardig dus bestel daarna niet teveel! Gelukkig maken ze het mogelijk om je eten mee te nemen 😅
Read more8-12-2023: Na lange tijd weer gegeten. Menu is veranderd en niet ten goede helaas. De opties zijn duur voor wat je krijgt. De meeste hoofdgerechten zijn thuis makkelijk zelf te maken. Voor minder geld zou het okay zijn, maar ik zou nu eerder adviseren om een lekkere Falafelwrap aan de overkant te halen bij X Falafel NL voor €5, die zijn goed en het geld veel meer waard😄

I saw some bad reviews but I gave it a chance, unfortunately not a good experience. Gyozas were fried and served with soy sauce which wasn’t a nice combination. Main courses were all priced €18, very overpriced for what we got. The falafel bowl was not nice at all, kapsalon was okay but nothing special. Also service was lacking. Do not recommend.

Greek gyro - Edit
Aloha was completely vegan except for one waffle dessert ( not sure if it’s the waffle or a topping but it seems easy to make that guy vegan!). The place was really hopping. I had the greek gyro. The vegan chickn on a fresh pita was excellent.

Important to make a reservation in advance… our table was booked but thankfully the manager let us spend an hour there and we left on time.
Lots of young diners, seems very popular

Almost all the options are vegan (also two desserts out of three). It’s a little pricey for what they offer and the portions are not very big.

Great location and friendly staff! I'm very happy with their köfte and their gozleme is the only one I have found since turning vegan. If only their waffles could be vegan, this would be the perfect place.

Great business, but I had some issues relating to the service. I went to this restaurant with a friend of mine last Tuesday, and we ordered our drinks and our menus were taken away from us, however, nobody came to pick up our main order. It wasn't too busy, so this surprised the two of us. After about ten minutes I asked for a waiter so we could order. We got the vegan "kapsalon" and I really enjoyed it. It was well spiced and the waiting time wasn't all too bad either, although that's to be expected with such a simple dish. The price was pretty decent as well, and the staff was friendly.

During a chat with the owner I learned that the foundation of aloha is animal friendly business. They have so many vegan options, so little vegetarian options. Makes me wonder why they do not go completely vegan. If you really want to be animal friendly...

Leiden has far too few good vegan options and we regularly search around for them! (Very strange considering it's a student city.) Until now, because Aloha makes up for it as far as I'm concerned for the whole city. I had the kapalon and it was as delicious as I remember from very long ago. Just what you need once in a while. Also, very nice restaurant and sweet service. I will definitely come back!

Surprising find in Leiden - Edit
A nice vegetarian restaurant with lots of vegan choices. We had vegan Beyond burgers, vegan chicken avocado sandwich, vegan banana bread, and homemade flavored iced teas and lemonade. All were excellent and the service was very good. Lots of outdoor seating, too.

Had the jackfruit burger and it didn’t disappoint. Was pricey and the most expensive burger I’ve ever eaten at 18€ but it was tasty. Think everything was vegan on the menu so loads of choice but they didn’t have a menu in English.

Everything at Aloha is perfect: the staff are lovely, the atmosphere is enchanting and cosy yet modern, the drinks are tasty and the food is to die for!
Read moreWe had the "chicken" & avocado burger with fries and the koftas in pitta, both were extremely delicious, large and well presented meals. To drink we had a delicious pilsner and a beautifully presented Aperol Spritz. Then for dessert, the chia with mango & pineapple with a fresh ginger & orange tea and the speculoos. On top of this, everything available when we visited was vegan!
I agree with other reviews that it was pretty pricey but not for the quality of the food and overall experience in our case. I'll absolutely be revisiting next time I'm in Leiden, it was a pleasure.

Er was nog 1 tafeltje beschikbaar dus ik raad zeker aan om te reserveren als je hier wilt eten. Het eten was heel erg lekker. Bediening vriendelijk en een heerlijke sfeer! Zeker een aanrader!
