horrible service

The food is OK but the service is horrible. I came to the diner quite early around 5ish, having seen reviews online. I chose to sit outside on a slightly big table, cuz I knew I was going to order some seafood and a small table could turn into a very messy one. I ordered a crab, a vegetable and a bottle of beer and started to tackle the plate of crabs after they came. Then people started to stream in and came an old couple ( an Asian lady and a white man) while I was listening to music with earphones on and happily wolfing down the crabs. Then I somehow heard the granny mumbling something to the effect that they chose a small table cuz they didn’t want to take a big one with only two ppl. At that time I didn’t pay much attention cuz I was wearing my earphones. Later the owner(I assume he is) came to me asking whether I wanted to swap my table with the couple. I happily replied yes even though I hadn’t finished my dinner yet with too many plates on the table cuz of the crab shells. But the granny turned the offer down and told the owner they’d like to sit where they were. Somehow the owner started to give me faces. I chose a bigger table to accommodate the need for lots of plates to hold the seafood shells, not because I wanted to occupy a bigger table for myself and I defly don’t deserve the cold faces I got there simply because of the couple sitting on a smaller one on top of their refusing to swap tables. Well, the incident doesn't affect my vacation mood but the service defly doesn’t match the reviews I saw online!

Very tasty food

There are some vegan options. I had the poke bowl and it was very tasty. Changes could be made without any problems. The staff were also very friendly. A little more expensive than usual, but totally worth it.

Pros: Tasty food, Nice Place , Friendly staff

Loved it

Unfortunately I can only give this place four stars. This is clearly a 5 star restaurant with the best Vegan food in Chiang Mai. Excellent staff and vegan ice creme.

Nice food, annoying man

The food and juice I had was great, it was going so well til the owner's friend Chris started talking to me about "Vegan nazis" - he is plant-based for health reasons and seems to think that he's superior to ethical vegans, then spent 5 minutes talking about how extreme some vegans are and generally bashing and talking about his marketing skills. Here's a novel marketing idea sure to improve feedback - don't let Chris talk to customers.

Couldn't get out of there fast enough which is a shame, as the food was lovely.

Pros: Good food, Nice selection of juices

Cons: Chris

You liked the food but bashed the boss. Kind of weird. Perhaps you should stick with vegan restaurants and stay away from non vegan restaurants. We must remember most humans are not vegan.

That's because the food was nice, but Chris ruined the experience, hardly weird, just something I won't repeat. I actually eat at plenty of non-vegan restaurants, I'm not a 'veganazi' lol

Best in Chiang Mai

Healthy style seafood restaurant with amazing vegan and raw vegan options. Truly a find if you are into a fitness superfood lifestyle. Not backpacker style more high end but well worth it. Service was excellent. Very busy in peak hours with many Chinese eating tables full of seafood. The busiest restaurant on Loi Kroh rd from what I could tell.

Pros: Raw Vegan, Resonable, Healthy style

nah

The personnel were so cold you wouldnt even need an AC there. We were the only people there, and yet we had to wait for everything an eternity. The meal was mediocre for such price. Havent tried any dessert, because I was really looking forward to be gone.

I'll take the advice of the owner from the comments here in the reviews section, and I'll eat elsewhere the next time.

Since you were the only customers there I am quite sure your food was out fast considering we have no less than five staff for a restaurant that seats 29. Go elsewhere. We apologize for nothing to you. We are the highest quality raw vegan and vegan food in Chiang Mai bar none. Oh and the highest quality alcohol anywhere in the area. Did I miss anything?

yedpodtrzitko

Did you actually read the review? Because it feels like you just saw two stars, so you put fingers in your ears to not hear anything, and start yelling "highest quality this, highest quality that!"
It is not - read the review, and try to think about it. I cant find a single reason, why would anyone make a bad fake review. Unless you are just paranoid.
You'll become a good restaurant, not by saying that over and over in the comments, or by creating fake 5-star reviews, but when other people will actually say it. We did not. Deal with it.

We could care less if you don't like us. We do make fake 5 star reviews customers make them. We already are a great restaurant and we do not cater or bow down to anyone:-) If we make the rare mistake we admit it and apologize. Like I said you are for sure not an MMA fighter, Pro athlete, retired professor but likely a New Age backpacking on the cheap in CNX type. Not our customer base for sure:-) See ya. NOT:-)

sorry this place is not worth it

They had nearly the half of what we have ordered. This place is really overprized. I had the zucchininoodles with walnutpesto although I have ordered the noodles with seaweed and spinach. The pesto was almost tasteless. We ordered a wheatgrass shot but they had none. We ordered a gotu kula shot but they had none as well. They said they would have moringa shot so we ordered this, but it was only moringa powder and no shot. The same thing with the cake. The most raw vegan options were not available and the only raw vegan cake was frozen. The raw vegan sushi was with a lot of nuts, to heavy for me. So we spend a lot of money for no quality. Never would go there again.

Totally Disappointed - not for vegans

Not sure what all the rage is about with this place. Terrible service, not good food by any means compared to the other Vegan restaurants in the area, and there are MANY.

We went there specifically because they advertised RAW vegan dishes. Their menu had about 4 or 5 options in this category. All but one used raw pesto as an ingredient, which happened to not be available that day, maybe they were out. Not late in the day. Disappointed right there. But it gets worse.

Decided to order a vegan sushi dish since what I wanted wasn't available. It didn't come until the two other people I was with were already done eating their food. We had to ask about it because they apparently had forgotten we ordered it. On top of that, it wasn't even close to satisfying. Poor flavor combinations.

They've also got some branding issues. They're named or at least known as Alice's Vegetarian Restuarant, with high visibility for Raw vegan options. Yet they serve meat dishes...

Definitely not coming back.

Pros: they have 100thb shots of any liquior they carry

Cons: expensive, small portions, food not available/not that good

Wow what a treat to have found this place. Beautiful and friendly Thai staff. Their food is amazing here. Raw Eggplant Lasagne that will blow you away if you like raw food. Best Raw Cheesecake I have ever eaten. Raw Durian/Mango was the flavor of the night. Awesome place in the sexy area. Loved it.

Pros: Raw Vegan, Quality, Super Friendly

Came here for a raw vegan brownie for dessert. It was not raw and it had the texture, and taste, of rubber.

Truly Amazing

If you want the best in the city of Chiang Mai this is surely the right place. The staff and owners are so friendly. We went there every day we were in Chiang Mai and never regretted it. I highly recommend the Super Salad which came with Raw Pesto and Mango. So yummy. I wish I could rate it higher but Happy Cow only allows 4 star for this restaurant. I guess because only Vegetarian I don't know. Surely the best so far we ate at.

Pros: quality ingredients, friendly staff, air conditioning

Stay Away

Been here a few times and only ever been disappointed. On my last visit I ordered a vegan coffee but the girl just said she couldn't make it. Ordered the energy soup to eat which was 168฿ for a few mediocre mouthfuls. I paid up and went straight to one of the other nearby places that are actually properly veggie (this place sells a huge menu of sea food) to get a decent plate of healthy vegan food which this place fails to get right. Some places just aren't worth your custom and this is sadly one of them.

You are a total liar and have been out to destroy the only Raw Vegan Restaurant in Chiang Mai for years because of your “holier and better than thou” attitude. Get a life Dee you obviously need one..

Best Healthy Options

Recently on my business trip to Chiang Mai I searched "healthy". Alice's Restaurant came up on Loi Kroh Rd. I was not disappointed. I was so tired of overcooked, oily and salty Thai Food that I was pleasantly surprised by Pink Salt used on the tables and no refined sugars in the desserts. This is by far the cleanest food I found on my week
in Chiang Mai. Highly recommend if you care about the quality of your food. Try the Raw Desserts so good!

Restaurant has a full menu of dead sea animals. Like other reviewers, we also witnessed owner being abusive staff. Food was mediocre at best and extremely overpriced given the quality of food and ingredients. Don’t go.

Due to the increase in the Chinese market Alice's is now Vegetarian Friendly. It would seem that if one is not a Veganazi you automatically dismiss the healthy and highest quality Vegan/Raw Vegan food in Chiang Mai. Since Eric Brent frequents Alice's I guess he is wrong too. For anyone reading this response we challenge all to find healthier ingredients in Vegan food than ours. Or to find Raw Vegan Durian/Cacao Cheesecake and Chocolates anywhere in Chiang Mai. Ignore the haters with limited imagination and nutritional education.

It would seem that anyone who doesn't like your restaurant must be a veganazi. I'm pretty sure that Eric has only been there once, which was when it was a vegetarian restaurant. That's not frequenting!

A big variety of dishes, veeery tasty, different than in other restaurants. Lighter and healthier than in most veg Thai restaurants. Products like Organic quinoa, black rice, wallnut milk and many more. The raw cake is very good, the salads are amazing. Prices arent low, but the food is worth it.

So Happy we Went Here!

Alice's is in a great location near all the shops, tattoo parlors, bars and just down the way of the night market AND is one of the only vegan/veggie spots open past 7pm (they are open until 10pm)! The owner is a f#%*ing hoot and awesome to chat with, he made our night! Super cool dude. We ended up have a few drinks with him after dinner. The food is fresh and made by locals with love. We had the tempeh sushi which was SO GOOD, I could've have 5 rolls. I also had the red curry with was full to the brim with veggies and tofu. Try the burmese green tea leaf salad - so good! I really appreciate that he had fresh kombucha available which was the BEST I've had in all of the continent of Asia so far, no joke (I brew at home). He also gave us some lactobacillus to try on the house, which they make in-house too! They even ferment their own kimchi :) Go here if you want to step out of the typical box of what the typically vegan world is boxed into and go just relax and be yourself at this establishment where you don't feel judged or scrutinized just for wanting to eat right ~ I love that yin-yang energy they got going on in that way. The manager is super on point, friendly and beautiful too! Overall awesome experience. Support these people, they deserve it!

Pros: Raw Options , Candid, cool folk working there , Authentic Flavors

Cons: none

The food is good here. Very fresh ingredients and healthy options. However it is not worth the prices. They are very high. 30 baht for a small bottle of water was shocking!

Cons: expensive
