Sooo good!

Great place for a nice and quiet dinner. We got the rainbow roll, korean bbq and won ton soup! All super tasty but the PVT was very realistic, taste and texture.

Pros: Fresh food, Authentic , Great Service

Cons: “Meat” too realistic

Love it!

This restaurant is near my house and when my fam gets takeout or delivery that isn’t vegan friendly I always call in an order for pick up at Alice and friends. I have tried so many things on the menu they’re all so flavorful and I especially love the ramen and gyoza.

I'm a Regular

My husband and I are here all the time for fresh, healthy Korean-inspired vegan food. I love that the owner is an ethical vegan, so she really cares about the cause as well as the food.

Can't wait to go back

Went here for a late dinner and the place was full. Food took a little long because they were very busy but it was worth the wait. We enjoyed the pan-fried dumplings, super-spicy Run Away Potato, Dol Sot Bi Bim Bop, along with Mango Lassi and Chocolate Mousse Pie. It was all so, so delicious. The Run Away Potato was at the upper limit to how spicy I like my food so next time I might order it as a side dish and not my main entree. We will definitely bring our own containers for leftovers too (the portions are large). I love how this restaurant promotes reusable containers. It should be the norm everywhere!

Pros: Amazing assortment of deliciousness, Low key, relaxed dining area, Great service & hospitality

Cons: Long wait, Tomka soup was sold out, Wish we lived closer

The best vegan restaurant

Some of my fave dishes are Malaysian Laksa, Run away Potato, Love letter to Earth Salad, Burmese’s Noodle Salad, Mushrooms Quinoa and Matcha Cake (to name a few). I’ve been to all vegan/veg restaurants in Chicago, Alice & Friends is the overall winner 🏆 Dishes are delicious & authentic, not too oily/salty. I’m Asian so I’m familiar with all the flavors. It’s not easy to cook them but Alice & Friends nailed it and was able to recreate them as vegan as well (talking about double standards)!!! My favorite weekend is to go workout in the morning, take the red line from the city to Alice, have lunch there and after take a walk (Anderson Ville’ coffee shops or grocery to Whole Foods nearby). If you’re planning to order to go, you can Bring Your Own Containers yo! Thank you for delicious nutritious foods and friendly service Alice & Friends!!!!

Pros: Healthy delicious dishes , Great service, Casual & unpretentious, great values

Cons: No cons! It’s perfect!

Fantastic Vegan Restaurant in Edgewater

I love everything about Alice & Friends. DELICIOUS vegan food, an ENORMOUS menu, oil-free options, amazing dessert, cute shop, nice staff, good prices, and a huge variety. What's not to love? Lol. You cannot go wrong here. If you want to indulge, get the burger and mac n' teese. If you want to be healthy, there's lots of salads and oil free curries! The prices are good, which is great because I want to try alllll the things. Definitely give this place a try if you haven't yet.

Delicious and healthy vegan options

I was in Chicago for a work conference, and I wanted to visit Alice's because of the clearly marked oil-free options on the menu. This was the first restaurant I've ever been to where those options are on the menu (I prefer to eat oil-free, and love that I can do that easily at Alice's).

I ended up eating here for dinner on 2 nights. It was an easy commute from downtown on the L train.

The oil-free lemon salad dressing is amazing. I got Mama's love (I'd describe it as a glass sweet potato noodle soup) and the Korean Rice Bowl (huge serving of rice), and both were very flavorful and filling. I tried the chocolate mousse pie, chocolate cake, and carrot cake for dessert. All of them were delicious, but I think the prices are a little high for the desserts.

I'd definitely go back if I'm in town in the future.

Pros: All vegan restaurant, Oil-free options clearly marked, Lots of vegan desserts

Cons: Desserts are a little expensive

Yummy Thai curry that is soy free!

I was so excited to try a soy free dish at Alice and friends. They took great care to make sure the food was not cross contaminated for a soy allergy. It was wonderful!

One of the best!

We took a weekend trip to Chicago to try out some new vegan restaurants and being asian cuisine, this definitely was on the list of things to try. We got what seemed like a little bit of everything and every dish was just as exceptional as the last. Don’t be weary of the fries either, they (along with the cheese) are the best fries I’ve ever had!

Pros: Very reasonable prices , Great friendly atmosphere , Amazing food

Cons: I don’t live in Chicago to eat it more often

Love Alice & Friends

As someone who is both gluten free and vegan, I love how easy A&F makes it to identify dishes that fit my diet.

Their food is fantastic and most would never even know it was vegan without reading the menu. My favorite is the Heavenly Curry and of course the incomparable Tirama Su. Their baked goods are excellent also.

Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area, whether you are vegan or not.

Pros: taste, clear diet identifiers, variety of dishes

Alice is very animal friendly!

Great food. I ordered the pho and it was very good. Place is also nice with great staff. Other food that was yummy was Malaysian curry. Highly recommend coming here and I will definitely come back when in the area. Prices for entrees are generally $8-12

Pros: All vegan, Great food

lots of options!

Large menu with tons of options from noodles to soups to desserts. I recommend the Mama's Love which is like a mix between soup/noodles/rice & contains a glass sweet potato noodle. Try the single sample appetizer platter if you want to try a little of everything. Delicious chai latte & desserts as well. Recommended!

First time and it was great!

Came to Alice & Friends for the first time on a rainy Friday evening with my husband. We ordered the spring rolls & a coconut soup with vegetables (cannot remember the name). Both were great. I ordered the Chow Mein and my husband ordered the Bi Bim Bop. I loved the Chow Mein! It had a light sweet sauce and lots of veggies. Oh, and we ordered carrot cake to go.

Atmosphere was calm and friendly. Will be one of the go to places for me as a new Vegan.

Pros: Friendly & knowledgable staff

Cons: Chow Mein may have been a little salty for me but

Vegan Food at Its Best!

This evening my partner and I dined at Alice & Friends. We ordered the breaded shrimp, the homemade spring rolls, the agadashi tofu, and the Indonesian satay as appetizers. All four were delicious. Our entrées included the Kung Pao and Grace's Teriyaki. We enjoyed both considerably. Although we were absolutely satiated, we had to order a dessert- a piece of chocolate cake. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Additionally, we meet the couple who owns the restaurant. They were extremely gracious and kind, and we had a lovely conversation with them. This was our first visit to Alice & Friends, but it certainly will not be our last. We look forward to visiting Alice & Friends every time we visit the Windy City.

My Chicago Home

Growing up near the city vegan this was always a main staple and now it has been for my kids. Love the giant Pho, the burger is delicious and inexpensive. German Apple cake? Yes please! And if you like carrot cake you'll love theirs. The Golden tofu which is the tofu skin dish is amazing and the salad dressings just a touch of sweet. This is one of my favorite LH locations and I've been to many! Staff is friendly and overworked so be kind vegans, practice what you preach.

Pros: Inexpensive, items kids will enjoy , delicious

Cons: slow service when busy

Most Expensive Loving Hut to date

Loving hut is one of the best vegan restaurants out there, there food is delicious comfort food.
Now here are some huge draw backs for this loving hut.
The prices are the same as other loving huts, which make this loving hut no different. However the portions are much smaller. For 8 dollars you get a tiny veggie dog with the trimmings and no fries. Other loving huts you get two v dogs and fries for around 7 dollars.
I have bought serveral entrees and appetizers at one loving hut (the one in tampa) and spent only 34 dollars. I buy two meals and an "extra" fries and dumplings and I'm at 19 dollars.
The loving hut where I spent 34 dollars, I bought dumplings, spring rolls, fries with spicey sauce, pad thai, and veggie dogs and received huge portions of these, and something else because my boyfriend wanted two main meals. (can't remember).
The Chicago loving hut has many dessert options which is new to me. Also insanely expensive for a sliver of chocolate silk pie, which again was very good, but still pricy.
Another turn off was the lack of pictures on their menu. Due to their vauge names for things (a refusal to add traditionally meat names to their dishes, instead of saying "beef" it's wheat meat or something, which is fine and something I could get behind)I had no idea what was going on, so I wussed out and got the very TINY veggie burger. Like, palm of your hand with very thin patty tiny. Nothing like the Denny's burger, by comparasion. It came with no fries. It was 8 dollars.
We ordered up at the cashier, which is different..so basically we had no waiter, that's fine, probably a cost saving move, which I unfortunately did not see reflected in the food prices.
There we saw the menus that had some pictures of the food, when it was too late. Oh well.
This loving hut has had the best interior so far, very clean and neat with its own flair.
The best thing there was no master tv there, they turned it off! Wow that was the first time I saw that happen! At least I didn't have to be embarrassed by that when I took my mom out to eat,

Pros: No Master tv, Tasty Food, Very nice interior

Cons: tiny portions, no picture menu, expensive

New Favorite!

We have lived less than a block away from this restaurant for 5 years and just tried it for the first time. Wow, were we surprised! We've been vegetarians for 4 years, but just decided to try being vegan. It has been a real challenge finding places to eat out and it's refreshing to have so many choices at a place right in my neighborhood. We carried out, our food was ready within 15-20 minutes. We ordered the Thai Curry & Momma's Love, both were really great. Made with fresh veggies and all organic products, we couldn't have asked for a better meal. In addition, all their take out containers were recyclable, even the plastic! We will definitely be ordering from them in the near future!

Pros: Fresh & Fast, Nice Staff, Good Prices

Cons: None
