An affordable, vegetarian Indian restaurant with plenty of clearly labeled vegan meals, plus meals that can be made vegan upon request. Open Mon-Fri 11:00-15:00, Mon-Tue 18:00-22:00, Thu-Sat 18:00-22:00, Sat-Sun 10:00-13:00.
Since we've never been to India and we don't have authority on the matter we can't really say for sure, but all indications we have point to this being one of the most authentic Indian places in the city. It's super small, all in all it seats about 10 people or so, but we actually found it quite charming. It reminded us of a place in Coventry, England, where we had some of the best Indian food we ever had. Onto the food itself: they have a very reasonably priced, all-vegan Lunch menu with three daily options plus the "all in one" thali option which we chose. All three dishes were very tasty. One was labelled as spicy, but perhaps surprisingly (given the authenticity) the spice-level was moderate at best. Still, Indian food doesn't have to be super spicy to be tasty and tasty it definitely was.
The same goes for the vegan Masala Chai we had with it. We thought the portions of the lunch deal would probably not be super big given that the whole thing cost less than 10 Euros. But that turned out to be wrong. One thali was definitely enough to fill up even a very hungry person. It also came with a tiny cup of tea which was a nice and tasty surprise. Great bang for your buck. Vegan options are clearly labeled and there are plenty of them.
All in all, this place is really a bit of a hidden gem and we'll definitely be back and try more of their options.
They have many original and tasty dishes, not at all like the standard Indian food you find often in Berlin. I can recommend the Tikki and the Soja Kadai. The place has only two tables, so its easier to get the food to go. They are happy to fill Tupperware that you bring to reduce plastic waste
