Nice experience but not my thing - Edit
Very sweet staff with good service. Very special way of eating, I'm glad to have tried it, but it's definitely not for me. Especially the next day, when I ate the leftovers from the night before since it was all way too much (even though I didn't expect that by looking at the dish when it was served), the pancake underneath had become all soggy. So keep that in mind when ordering, don't overestimate yourself.
Read moreWhen asking for a doggy bag they even put an extra pancake in our box.
We didn't know the vegetarian options could be made vegan as well and I would suggest them to state this fact more clearly, since the three of us (all vegan) ended up ordering the same dish, which I usually try to avoid.
Pros: Big, filling portions, Very friendly staff
Cons: Pancake underneath turns soggy

Tastefull vegan plate - Edit
We’ve been here twice in the last weeks and we’ll definitely come back. It’s an unpretentious restaurant that serves a huge plate with lots of hearthy dishes, like for example three different sorts of lentils.

Very good Ethiopian food in a friendly atmosphere - Edit
This Ethiopian restaurant offers a complete vegan meal that's very good, as well as generous. The owners are very friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. The portions are generous and the prices very affordable for Amsterdam. The coffee is served with a good portion of vegan popcorn, which is surprising but enjoyable.

Comfy and delicious - Edit
They have one vegan dish and one vegetarian dish (the only difference is absence of cottage cheese in the vegan one). As one-time visitor, I am quite happy with that.

Really good and spicy - Edit
Ordered the vegan plate, loooooved the pumpkin, the curry lentils, the spicy lentils, okay, basically everything. Owners are very nice. Asked us if we want some tea on the house after we paid. Got a huge can of tea and popcorn. The coffee liqueur is also worth trying! Portion size was good :)

Awesome food!! - Edit
We chose the vegan combination plate as mentioned on the menu, and it was awesome!! Huge portion, so satisfying to eat the food with the injeras, and not too spicy or too salty at all. Nice experience, definitely recommend :)

Ethiopian gem - Edit
A lot of delicious options for veggies and non-veggies. Just tell the staff in advance you want a separate plate when you are with a mixed group, otherwise meat and veg-plate will be served on the same plate.

Good, honest fare - Edit
I had the "vegetable special", a large platter of the other dishes on a big injera (a pancake-like flatbread) with a side of injeras that came as standard, and it was spot on. I picked it up with the injera as that seens to be the way to do it. A good variety of flavours. The lady had sort of broken English and Dutch but we could order without issue and she was lovely. She brought me more injeras free of charge. They also have an Ethiopian beer and fruit beers; I tried the mango beer and it was very nice indeed. I'd go again.

Great injera - Edit
Been wanting to try Ethiopian food for ages and I'm so glad I came here! Staff were knowledgeable about what is and isn't vegan. Portion size was great, we couldn't finished our main (but we wish we could!). New respect for split peas.

Delicious Ethiopian food, delicious - Edit
Ate here 2 times already. Love Ethiopian food in general. This place has good portions for its price, love the variety of vegan toppings, and the injera (the pancake made out of different kinds of flour incl. Teff flour) is super tasty. There is a gluten-free Injera option available, let them know in advance. Ask for the vegan options. You’ll definitely feel full after your meal.
Read moreVery friendly people. One time I had to wait a bit longer for take-away because it was so busy, and I got a free drink. Another time my dad lóved the injera, which he tried for the first time, and they gave him some extra to take with him for free.

Great value! - Edit
Nice place serving delicious Ethiopian food. The wots were great! Ask for the main platter to be veganized if necessary. Can we just replace every fastfood restaurant with Ethiopian restaurants already? The world, our bodies and bellies would be a happier place.

Deliciously exotic - Edit
This place is an institution. I have been coming here since 2001. A week ago I had dinner there after a few years abroad and, my God, I was not disappointed. The food is mega-delicious!!! I was really surprised by the flavours and textures. I ordered the vegetarian combi (without cheese) and it was very filling and satisfying. Definitely a place to visit. All plates come accompanied by Injera, a sort of sour pancake made out of teff flour. I am glad this place still exists and offers the chance to taste such an exotic cuisine like the Ethiopian one.

I had heard nice things about Ethiopian food before coming here and this place exceeded my expectations. I heartily recommend #18 which is a combination if all the vegetarian options. Also a great quantity!

5 stars great food! - Edit
Fantastic Ethiopian restaurant with many vegan options run by a very friendly, English speaking family. My wife and I ordered the vegan banquet, a sample of several dishes including 3 types of lentils, spinich, beans, pumpkin and Ethiopian pancakes. Also a health & fitness freak, I was very pleased that little oil / additives are used in the dishes. Good, clean, healthy & tasty food! We'll be back! And very cheap!

An exotic and perfect vegan dinner in Amsterdam - Edit
What attracted me and my husband to enter was a sign in the front door saying "vegan friendly". Inside, the service was so great, the waitress was so helpful, simpathic, and suggested us some vegan options. We ordered the #18 (a mix of all veggie/vegan dishes - #12 to #17), just excluding the cottage cheese. And a coconut beer, so delicious and served in a real coconut bowl, not in a glass! So exotic! The food was really tasteful! I really loved it and I wish coming back if someday I come again to Amsterdam! And the staff do not hurry you to leave the place when you finish your meal (I particularly HATE this), they really respect their customers!

Friendly staff, good food, choice for vegans - Edit
I have on many occasions been given reason to doubt that staff at restaurants really understand what vegan means, but here I did not have to worry! The friendly waitress explained what allergens the vegetarian dishes contained and which ones could be made vegan, and I also saw an advert for gluten-free dishes, which can be ordered one day in advance. I tried a vegan engudaye be, which was clearly fresh and tasty, though could have been a bit spicier in my opinion. But that's just me. Overall I would recommend giving this place a try, especially if you want to try a new cuisine - Ethiopian makes a change from what I am used to, in a good way.

Delicious and such friendly staff - Edit
I was en route to find a vegan restaurant and saw this place with its 'vegan friendly' sign and was lured in by that and the promise of Ethiopian food. The staff were lovely and the food was some of the nicest I've ever tasted. So soo good! Would highly recommend number 18 which is a mix of all the veggie options and if you ask for it to be vegan they simply remove the cottage cheese from one of them.

Delicious vegan options - Edit
I was lured into this place by the "vegan friendly" sign on the door, and I'm glad I was - the food was delicious and the service was really fast and friendly. The waitress confirmed that all the vegetarian options except for one were vegan, and persuaded us to try the combination plate, which featured a bit of everything. All of the dishes were so good! There were an additional two injera per person on the side. The food was so delicious, I'd highly recommend it.
