Great coffee, hit and miss food - Edit
I've been here a few times and the coffee has always been great. There are a couple of vegan/adaptable food options, although the dish I used to love (white beans with toast, great comfort food for brunch on a cold day) was gone from the menu when I went today. Their menu is labelled V/VG/VGO for vegetarian/vegan/vegan option respectively, and on the current menu they have an item that looked vegan and tasty but was labelled V without a VGO. I was not having a great day in terms of having the spoons for asking questions about the menu, so I went for the vegan-by-default spicy tofu sandwich thing with satay. I've had it before and last time I really enjoyed it, but today it seemed super salty, much more than the last time I ordered it. I scraped off as much of the coating on the tofu as I could to reduce the saltiness, but still couldn't finish the meal. I'll give it another chance, as the previous times I've been I have enjoyed the food heaps and it's a nice cosy vibe with friendly and efficient service, but today the food I got was a little disappointing.

So cute and cosy - Edit
A lot of amazing vegan options. From previous reviews, it sounds like they might’ve changed owners or chef’s and had some dips in their selection and quality but they are on top of their game now! If I could give them 5 stars, I would!

Average food - Edit
You wouldn’t think it would be hard to do a good vegan avo toast in Melbourne, but this place struggled - literally some dry toast, avocado and a few bits of pickled onion. Bland and uninspired :(

No options - Edit
One good vegan item on the menu, the other small items like toasties or bagels can’t be made vegan because they don’t have vegan cheeses or substitutes. The menu is mostly meat + eggs

Small and cute - Edit
Tofu sandwich is a banger and the coffee is consistently good, and the staff have always been really nice. Cute little place to hang out and study. Highly recommend popping in if you're in the area.

more vegan options than ever - Edit
The quality of food at minor place did drop off for a while there but they're back and better than ever.
Read moreThere are several great vegan options on the menu, including a chia pudding with seasonal fruits, bircher muesli, the white beans (of course) and the tofu sandwich, just off the top of my head.
Coffee is still top notch.
Pros: good vegan options, cheap, coffee is ace
Cons: hard to get a table, very few vegan sweet treats

Great food - not as many vego options nowadays - Edit
Always been a great cafe in the Brunswick area, it is now missing a lot of the old vego items from the older menu. But it has replaced them with some decent vego/vegan options.
Read moreVery good coffee, highly recommend the whitebeans.
Pros: Whitebeans!
Cons: Small range, Price

trusty old favorite - Edit
At least 5 years ago, when veg*n restaurants were scarce, even in Brunswick, I used to live nearby and visit A Minor Place A LOT! They do great coffees with Bonsoy but that ain't nothing special in this area. They have a few menu items listed "VO" for vegan optional which just involves taking out the dairy. No substitutions made. In a neighbourhood where pretty much every cafe offers a few items that they can make vegan, I don't consider this particularly vegan friendly. They haven't gone out of their way to design vegan menu items but they'll politely oblige. Henry's White Beans, however, are and always have been a delicious, comforting vegan breakfast. Served on toasted sourdough, with dukkah and rocket, they're garlicy, creamy, and melt in your mouth. Gets me every time! Just remember to ask for no butter on your toast, or mention that you're vegan.
Read moreThat said, given that HC discourages people from listening non-veg restaurants, especially in areas where there are other, 100% veg places nearby, I'm wondering why A Minor Place rates a mention. Perhaps because they stock vegan muffins, brownies, and other baked goods from Crumbs. A thoughtful touch in an otherwise not particularly vegan-friendly cafe.
Pros: Henry's White Beans, vegan baked goods
Cons: no specifically vegan menu items, few options, no substitutes for dairy, etc
