just a five minute walk from my hostel this place was somewhere i didn't want to leave !!! incredible coffee and vegan sweet treats (if you're there early make sure you get a warm brioche!!) (only two euro)

As a vegan traveller it can sometimes be hard finding a good spot for breakfast abroad: not in Lyon. They have three cafés spread about town and it was the perfect place to start the day with something sweet. I had a Latte Speculoos (deliciously creamy) and a Cinnamon Roll. Everything is fairly priced and at 11am they still had a large selection of pastries and baguettes available - honestly makes it hard to choose what to try first.

I need to first caveat my 5-star review. Both days I came here, there were tons of wasps/bees all over their pastries not covered by the glass (so their croissants, buns, etc.). The workers just grabbed the pastries through the wasps anyways and seemed unphased. I personally wasn’t too peeved (although wasps do freak me out a bit), BUT I know that this is pretty gross and not at all usual in the US…maybe it’s normal in France or Lyon in particular? So be aware if you find this unhygienic!
Read moreOnto the actual review. Croissant and pain au chocolat are great! Definitely sweet, almost as if they have a sugar syrup added at some point, but the texture is on point and quite good! Sandwiches are also a hit for a cheap lunch/dinner, they all seem to have this vegan chicken in them. I preferred the curry chicken sandwich, it seemed the most flavorful. The cakes looked great, but I didn’t get a chance to try them. Kind workers as well.
Pros: Vegan pastries + cakes, Reasonable prices, Indoor + outdoor seating
Cons: Wasps all over their uncovered pastries
