Tasty but stingy - Edit
The flavours were really good, however the tortellini portion was VERY small for the price, it felt like a tapa. This is something that unfortunately happens a lot in vegan places and in my opinion prevents some people from going vegan.

Small Bistro with all vegan Food. We went for local options such as Tortelloni, Tortellini and Tigella and we loved it. We tried the cakes (Sacher and Della Nonna) and those were also very good.

ZEM Bistro “DNF” 🙁 - Edit
We must have ordered the wrong things from the menu because everything we had was surprisingly terrible. The Lambrusco was served flat and warm, we only took one sip. The tortellini was very bland and I had to add salt to make it palatable. The pasta was so bad we took 1-2 bites and did not finish it. We ordered a beetroot item and received a spinach item, which wasn’t good at all. We tried to order other things at the start but they were out of many of their menu items. I actually regretted eating here, sadly.

Abbiamo provato la grigliata contadina la quale ci ha piacevolmente sorpreso in quanto composta da salsicce, würstel e arrosto tutti realizzati con l’utilizzo di legumi e cereali. The food was rather bland. It was not to expensive. They didn't have many choices for non alcoholic beverages, only juices and Kombucha. We had the lasagna and the falafel. The falafel were pretty dry. The lasagna didn't taste like much. The person's next to us had the burgers ant weren't to happy either

Loved the tortelloni itself, but the seitan on top lacked a bit of flavour and wasn't a necessary addition I think. The tortelloni with cream tastes a bit ham-like. Good taste, but be aware it's quite heavy.

We wanted to try the tortellini but they didn't have any that evening, so we had (pumpkin filled) tortelloni instead, along with the the peasant's grill. Both were great. All the sausages etc. in the grill seemed to be homemade and all from different, interesting ingredients. I would definitely have it again.

I’m a fan of La Zappa e il mestolo for long, I love their burgers and I’m so happy they opened this little bistrot. It’s very cozy, delicious fresh and seasonal veggies, creative and healthy burgers. I also had the vegan erbazzone, something very typical but almost impossible to find vegan! Totally recommend!!!

Read moreWe had the tortellini - which was ok - and the grill platter - which we didn't like so much. Too much 'meat' to little veggies. And the taste of the meat substitutes was not enjoyable. Maybe if we had chosen a different meal, we would have had a different experience.
It's a rather small restaurant and if your looking for somewhere to really sit down, chill and share a nice dinner I would not go here. It's more of a fast food/take away place.

Io e la mia ragazza siamo venuti da Zem durante il nostro primo viaggio a Bologna e sapevamo subito che bisognava tornarci, anche se lei mangia carne. I tortellini completamente vegani migliori di Bologna, in un piccolo ambiente familiare e dinamico. Consigliatissimi anche i nugget e le tigelle, sempre vegane. Birra artigianale molto buona. Ci torneremo di sicuro anche al prossimo viaggio.

Best Vegan Fast food - Edit
This place was formerly vegan but now is. A new and very cool shape. I know the owner because he has also other food track in the city at some market (Tuesday on Vag, Thursday on Campi aperti and Wednesday and Saturday at Mercato ritrovato). The place is small but well designed and you can have a very good dish including the amazing tortellini vegan. So good. They have a good selection of organic beer and wine with local company. They also plan some tasting. It a must go place. The price are also very good and people always nice.
